Citibank Nigeria Limited (CNL) was incorporated in Nigeria on May 2, 1984 and the oldest international bank in the country. It provides a wide range of financial products and services to corporate and commercial customers, financial institutions and public sector organizations. It offers deposit and loan products, global transaction services, cash management, sales and trading, corporate finance and investment banking products.
The company was formerly known as Nigeria International Bank Ltd and changed its name to Citibank Nigeria in 2008. Today it employs about 300 people and operates 12 branches in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Warri, Kano, Bonny, Aba, Lanlate and Ososa. As at December 31, 2016, it had over NGN 600 billion in total assets. Citibank Nigeria is owned by Citibank Overseas Investment Corporation, a subsidiary of Citibank N.A. (USA).
Job Position: China Desk Head – Nigeria and West & Central Africa
Job Location: Lagos, Nigeria
Job Responsibilities
- Expand a portfolio of accounts with varying/complex financial needs with the objective of revenue growth and good credit quality in line with Citi’s credit standards, policies and processes
- Identify customer needs and recommend solutions to address these needs, such as financing, streamlining of cash management operations, foreign currency solutions, etc.
- Cross-sell banking products, including cash management, trade finance, trade services, structured trade products, foreign exchange, commodities, fixed income, loans (including syndicated, bilateral) and capital market products
- Responsible for all credit aspects of the relationship including annual reviews, early problem recognition and remedial management
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Job Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree / University Degree or equivalent experience
- MBA or Master’s Degree in Business mandatory.
Experience:
- Minimum of 15 years minimum post-graduation experience, out of which 10 years must have been within the Banking industry and a minimum of 3 years as a Senior Manager or equivalent position.
- Evidence of experience in at least three (3) major areas of banking operations.
- Proven and progressive related lending/credit experience or equivalent product experience
- Demonstrated credit skills, including a background in credit
- Experience with large corporate clients, capital markets products, derivatives, credit, cash management, trade, finance and securities products preferred
- Comprehensive knowledge of Corporate Banking business including related products, pertinent regulations and the lending and credit approval process
- Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication
- Proven analytical, planning, negotiation, and organizational skills
Competencies:
- Fluency in both English & Chinese languages required
- Responsible for the development and marketing of a growing portfolio of Chinese Corporates operating in Nigeria and West & Central Africa
- Previous Relationship Management experience in a similar structure with 2+ years of marketing
- Strong product and risk knowledge
