Job Position: Engineer / Builder

Job Location: Ojodu, Lagos

Job Responsibilities

  1. Must be able to interpret all engineering drawings (Structural, M & E) and Architectural Design for Physical Implementation managing parts of construction projects.
  2. Overseeing building work.
  3. Undertaking surveys.
  4. Setting out sites (Buildings and Road work).
  5. Checking technical designs and drawings to ensure that they are followed correctly supervising contracted staff.
  6. Ensuring project packages meet agreed specifications, budgets and/or timescales.
  7. Liaising with clients, subcontractors and other professional staff, especially quantity surveyors and the overall project manager.
  8. Providing technical advice and solving problems on site.
  9. Preparing site reports and filling in other paperwork.
  10. Liaising with quantity surveyors about the ordering and the pricing of materials.
  11. Ensuring that health and safety and sustainability policies and legislation are adhered to.
  12. Site engineers work out on a construction site in all weathers and tend to work on multiple projects at a time.
  13. Depending on the location of the project, they might need to relocate or complete a lengthy commute.
  14. Must be able to use AutoCAD and other software for design.

Job Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s Degree or HND in civil or structural engineering, construction, building, or related field.
  2. Considerable experience in a similar position.
  3. In-depth knowledge of engineering, technology, building, construction, and design.
  4. Proficient in the use of computer-aided design (CAD) software.
  5. Familiar with scientific analysis software as well as graphics and map creation software.
  6. Proven track record of managing personnel and material resources.
  7. Exemplary critical thinking, analytical, and complex problem-solving skills.
  8. Strong time management and project management skills.
  9. Active listening and verbal communication skills.
  10. Ability to use the scientific process to solve problems.
  11. Dedication to learning new concepts and strategies.
