Job Position: Facility Manager

Job Location: Lagos

Job Description 

  • The Facility Operations Associate is responsible for assisting our Operations team with managing the organization’s physical assets.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Plan, coordinate, and oversee all installations (telecommunications, electricity, etc.), repairs, and refurbishments
  2. Managing information technology and computer systems
  3. Controlling and evaluating IT and electronic data operations
  4. Manage the upkeep of equipment and supplies to meet health and safety standards
  5. Control activities like parking space allocation, waste disposal, building security, etc.
  6. Develop maintenance procedures and ensure implementation
  7. Supervise all facilities staff:  custodians, technicians, security, etc.
  8. Manage relationships with contractors and service providers
  9. Respond to all members’ building or equipment concerns immediately and with a customer-service-oriented attitude
  10. Coordinate technical support and logistics before and post events at Workstation
  11. Monitor energy and electricity usage throughout the building including but not limited to controlling air conditioning, turning lights on/off, reserving energy on appliances, etc.
  12. In conjunction with the Community Operations Associate, store, track and organize all keys — all building entrances indoor and outdoor, all rooms with a lock, private offices, and lockable cabinets
  13. Plan, organize, control, and evaluate IT and electronic data operations
  14. Manage IT staff by recruiting, training, and coaching employees, communicating job expectations, and appraising their performance
  15. Design, develop, implement, and coordinate systems, policies, and procedures
  16. Ensure the security of data, network access, and backup systems
  17. Act in alignment with user needs and system functionality to contribute to organizational policy
  18. Identify problematic areas and implement strategic solutions in time
  19. Audit systems and assess their outcomes
  20. Preserve assets, information security, and control structures
  21. Handle annual budget and ensure cost effectiveness

Job Requirements 

  1. Proven experience as a facilities or maintenance manager or relevant position
  2. Excellent organizational and leadership skills coupled with sound analytical/critical thinking
  3. Working knowledge of facilities machines and equipment
  4. Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
  5. Ability to manage a variety of staff and implement process improvement initiatives
  6. Very strong attention to detail
  7. Passion and understanding of Workstation’s mission and values
  8. Proven working experience as an IT personnel or relevant experience
  9. Excellent knowledge of technical management, information analysis, and of computer hardware/software systems
  10. Expertise in data center management and data governance
  11. Hands-on experience with computer networks, network administration, and network installation
  12. BS in Computer Science, MIS, or a similar field
  13. Previous experience working in a similar role or a background in an administrative, secretarial, or customer service role
  14. Excellent organizational, multitasking, and communication skills
  15. Familiar with hospitality industry standards
  16. Ability to handle a high volume of inquiries and personalities while maintaining a professional and friendly attitude
  17.  Passion and understanding of Workstation’s mission and values
  18. Min. 1-year work experience
  19. Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent.
  20. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  21. Social Awareness – Being aware of relevant social, political, and professional trends and developments and using this information as the basis of sound judgment.
  22. Community Sensitivity – Ability to demonstrate moral and social awareness of the consequences of one’s choices, decision-making, and actions on behalf of our members.
  23. Workmanship – Ability to carry out one’s work per professional standards of one’s specific job designation. Accountability – Ability to be accountable for one’s actions and those of junior reps mentored.
  24. Stress Management – Ability to perform under pressure and adversity while remaining objective.
