Job Position: Financial Controller
Job Location: Lagos
About the Role
- The Financial Controller, or Comptroller, will undertake all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, financial risk management, regulatory and financial reporting; budgeting and forecasting preparation; as well as development of internal control policies and procedures.
- The Finance Controller will report directly to the Global CFO and work closely with business unit managers, Heads of Finance, accountants, and bookkeepers.
What you will do:
- Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL and Counsel, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition
- Coordinate month-end closing process like prepare journal entries, monthly account reconciliations, report analysis, and bank account reconciliations
- Intercompany eliminations of related party transactions and exchange rate and multi-currency transaction reconciliation.
- Assistance in the preparation of the annual budget, sales forecasting, gross margin analysis, and standard cost development
- Learning the functionalities of the software system (QBO) to understand processes and prepare reports
- Research technical accounting issues for compliance
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
- Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
Job Requirements
What It Takes:
- Advanced Degree in Accounting and CPA or CMA preferred.
- 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience in a multi-currency environment.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
- Experience with creating financial statements, general ledger functions and month-end/year-end close process.
- Excellent accounting software user and administration skills.
