Job Position: Lawyer

Job Location: Ikeja, Lagos

Job Description

  1. To develop research objectives, projects, and proposals and carry out individual or collaborative research aligned with the firm’s practice areas.
  2. To represent clients in court, draft and review court processes and legal documents, and manage or advise clients on legal matters.
  3. To make a substantial and positive contribution to the strategic direction of the firm.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Monitor legal risk in documentation and giving guidance on the acceptable assumption of risk.
  2. Interpret laws, rulings and regulations for natural and juristic persons.
  3. Conduct legal research and gather evidence.
  4. Ensure that appropriate approvals are in place before documents are executed.
  5. Explain the law and give legal advice.
  6. Protecting the Firm’s interests by ensuring due diligence
  7. Offer legal representation at arbitration or mediation hearings.
  8. Draft, review and manage wills, trusts, estates, contracts and deeds.
  9. Manage regulatory and compliance-related services.
  10. Facilitate innovative solutions to client problems.
  11. Offer legal representation to clients in court proceedings on civil or criminal matters.
  12. Manage and oversee paralegals and legal assistants.
  13. Evaluate findings and develop strategies and arguments in preparation for presentation of cases
  14. Prepare pleadings, notices and make appearances in court
  15. Study Constitution, statutes, decisions, regulations, and ordinances of quasi-judicial bodies to determine ramifications for cases
  16. Performs other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  1. A Degree in Law with at least 2.1
  2. Must be called to the Nigeria Bar with at least 2.2
  3. With 5-12 consecutive years of active experience in legal practice.
  4. Ability to act as project leader on major research projects
  5. Good oral and written communication skills
  6. Excellent interpersonal skills
  7. Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality
  8. Experience in drafting, negotiating and reviewing legal documents.
  9. Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and research skills.
  10. Natural leader who displays sound judgment and attention to detail.
  11. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  12. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  13. Excellent interpersonal, communication and public speaking skills.

Salary
Negotiable.
