Job Position: Database Developer

Job Location: Lagos

Job Description

  1. Our client is looking for an experienced Database Developer to join a leading company on a permanent basis.
  2. You will be responsible for developing reviewing, tuning, testing, and reporting across a new reporting suite based on organization PostgreSQL data warehouse / database.
  3. As the PostgreSQL Specialist, you will also establish telemetry dashboards whilst also creating and implementing any recommendations.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Lead efforts to develop and improve procedures for automated monitoring and proactive intervention, reducing any need downtime.
  2. Develop Stored Procedures and Database Triggers in support of application development.
  3. Participate in application development projects and be responsible for the database architecture and design.
  4. Participate in the creation of development, staging, and production database instances, and the migration from one environment to another.
  5. Modify databases according to requests and perform tests.
  6. Solve database usage issues and malfunctions.
  7. Liaise with developers to improve applications and establish best practices.
  8. Gather user requirements and identify new features.
  9. Develop technical and training manuals.
  10. Provide data management support to users.
  11. Ensure all database programs meet company and performance requirements.
  12. Research and suggest new database products, services and protocols.’

Job Requirements

  • BSc in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 2 – 5 years of relevant experience as a Database Developer in a Financial Institution is preferred
  • PostgreSQL database certification is an added advantage
  • Knowledge of software development and user interface web applications
  • Hands on experience with SQL
  • Familiarity working with .Net Framework, JavaScript, HTML and Oracle
  • Must be a critical and analytical problem solver.
  • Must be self-driven, self-motivated, and result oriented.
  • Must have excellent spoken and written communication.
  • Must have excellent time skills – showing an ability to organize, prioritize, and balance multiple projects.
  • Must be a great team-player.
