Job Position: Chief Accountant

Job Location: Ikoyi, Lagos

Job Description

  1. In this position you will be responsible for the accounting and financial statements of the DEME entities in Nigeria. You will be interacting directly with the Finance Manager.
  2. You will have to provide technical and administrative support for finance and general accounting. Prepare required financial reports; maintain integrity of financial reporting system and prepare the financial statements.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Prepares quarterly financial reports for DEME entities in Nigeria.
  2. Manages daily accounting activities to maintain the organization’s general ledger.
  3. Coordinates and ensures timely monthly, quarterly and annual closing activities.
  4. Prepares annual financial statements.
  5. Prepares and/or reviews month-end journal entries.
  6. Makes and implements recommendations to improve accounting and tax compliance processes.
  7. Ensures compliance with all legal requirements.
  8. Works with the Finance Manager to ensure a clean and timely year-end audit.
  9. Is the first point of contact for the statutory financial audit of all DEME entities in Nigeria.
  10. Analyses potential financial risks and monitor the implementation of risk mitigating activities.
  11. Make cashflow and financial forecasts.
  12. Manage the accounting team lead and develop project members.
  13. Ad hoc tasks.

Job Requirements

  • Master’s Degree preferably with Accounting major or related field.
  • 5 years of progressive responsibility in accounting related functions (with at least 3 years in supervisory role).

Proven knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

  1. Proven knowledge of transaction taxes.
  2. Maintain overview of the day-to-day accounting process.
  3. Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  4. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  5. ACA or ACCA required.
  6. Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a plus
  7. Experience working with an international company is a plus.
  8. Modesty and professional attitude.
