Job Position: Accountant

Job Location: Lagos

Job Description

  1. This role is positively challenging and will provide growth to the prospective role holder.
  2. The ideal role holder is a progressive Finance professional who is intelligent, has a strong interest in deploying accounting solutions, and can work in a fast-paced environment. He/she must be competent in all basic Accounting functions and will be required to perform duties according to best practices.
  3. Most importantly, in line with our client’s standard, he/she should be committed, hard-working, and particular about delivering quality work.

Job Responsibilities
What you will be doing:

  1. Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are properly and timely recorded
  2. Update accounts receivable and accounts payable accordingly
  3. Share responsibility for overseeing the accounts reconciliations and inventory management processes.
  4. Co-champion the preparation and processing of balance sheets, payroll, income statements, and other financial statements
  5. Update financial data in databases to ensure that information will be accurate and immediately available when needed
  6. Collaborate with the tax consultant and external auditors to ensure the company adheres to all its statutory obligations
  7. Prepare and submit weekly/monthly reports
  8. Draft other relevant periodic reports on the financial status of the company
  9. Identify trends and recommend actions based on sound analysis
  10. Liaise with the Consultants to provide advisory services such as business valuation, budget preparation, template design, accounting framework, and setup
  11. Ensure compliance with best practice and legal requirements
  12. Other related tasks as assigned

Job Requirements
What you need to succeed:

  • 1+ years of hands-on Finance experience
  • Educational background in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field
  • A member of a professional body e.g. ACA, ACCA, (Part or Fully Qualified) is a ‘nice to have
  • Proven knowledge in bookkeeping, financial reporting, financial management, financial software, and Microsoft suite
  • Excellent presentation, reporting, and communication skills
  • Good attention to details
  • Highly confidential with good integrity
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced and result-oriented environment
  • Ability to work in a team and multitask
  • Client relationship and engagement skills
  • Tech savvy; good use of collaboration tools such as Slack

Interview Process
Preliminary Chat:

  • If we believe you are a good fit based on your application, we will schedule a 30-45minutes chat with you, our Recruitment Associate and Hiring Manager. This is basically a get-to-know-you chat for us to hear about you experiences and to confirm that the role is a good fit for you, as well as if you are a good fit for us.

Recruitment Exercise:

  • Thereafter, a recruitment exercise will be sent to you to further assess your technical competence for the role.

Second Interview:

  • If we find your performance in the exercise satisfactory, you will meet with one of our Principal Consultant for a technical chat – relating to the role and the recruitment exercise.

Final Interview:

  1. At this stage, we will schedule a final interview with you to meet with our client for a final assessment and to discuss expectations of both parties
  2. We will ensure to give you an update within a week after each stage.
