Job Position: Business Development and Growth Operations Specialist

Job Location: Maryland, Lagos

Job Description

  1. Manage and optimize the day-to-day operations of recyclable waste collection, sorting, and processing activities.
  2. Drive operational excellence
  3. Implement process improvements, and promoting a culture of environmental stewardship.

Job Responsibilities
Operational Management:

  1. Oversee and coordinate all aspects of recyclable waste collection, sorting, and processing operations.
  2. Develop and implement operational strategies, procedures, and policies to ensure efficient and effective workflows.
  3. Monitor daily operations, including waste collection routes, equipment utilization, and resource allocation.
  4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and enhance operational productivity.

Team Leadership:

  1. Provide leadership, guidance, and supervision to a team of operators, supervisors, and technicians.
  2. Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  3. Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and identify training needs.
  4. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, and promote a culture of safety awareness.

Process Improvement:

  1. Continuously evaluate operational processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
  2. Develop and implement process optimization initiatives to increase efficiency and productivity.
  3. Analyze operational data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends and areas for enhancement.
  4. Collaborate with stakeholders to implement innovative technologies and systems to improve operations.

Quality Assurance:

  1. Implement quality control measures to ensure the delivery of high-quality recyclable waste materials.
  2. Establish and monitor quality assurance procedures, including sorting and processing standards.
  3. Conduct regular inspections and audits to verify compliance with quality requirements. Collaborate with suppliers and customers to address quality-related issues and drive continuous improvement.

Environmental Compliance:

  1. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permit requirements
  2. Stay up-to-date with relevant environmental policies and industry best practices.
  3. Implement measures to minimize environmental impact, promote sustainability, and support circular economy principles.
  4. Collaborate with regulatory agencies and external partners to maintain compliance and promote industry-leading practices.

Business Development:

  1. Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand the company’s presence and increase market share.
  2. Conduct market research and analysis to identify target customers, industry trends, and competitive insights.
  3. Develop and execute strategic initiatives to penetrate new markets and industries.
  4. Build and maintain a robust sales pipeline and lead the negotiation and closing of new business deals.

Partnership Development:

  1. Identify potential strategic partners and establish mutually beneficial relationships.
  2. Collaborate with partners to develop joint marketing and sales strategies to drive revenue growth.
  3. Negotiate and execute partnership agreements, ensuring alignment with the company’s objectives.
  4. Monitor partner performance and provide ongoing support to optimize partnership outcomes.

Customer Relationship Management:

  1. Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective customers.
  2. Understand customer needs, provide solutions, and deliver exceptional customer service.
  3. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure customer satisfaction and retention.
  4. Actively seek customer feedback and incorporate it into the development of business strategies.

Job Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
  2. Proven experience in operations management, preferably in the recycling or waste management industry.

Competence Requirements and Key Performance Indicators (KPI)

  1. Strong understanding of recyclable waste materials, sorting technologies, and processing techniques.
  2. Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse workforce.
  3. Knowledge of health and safety regulations and experience in implementing safety protocols.
  4. Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, analyze trends, and drive data-driven decision-making.
  5. Achieve a recycling rate of 95% every month.
  6. Increased customer satisfaction and retention.
  7. Client management with minimal issues.
  8. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  9. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external stakeholders.
  10. Proficient in using relevant software applications and systems for operational management and reporting.
  11. Minimum of 3 partnerships in a quarter.
  12. Proactively identify possible issues and proffer solutions.
  13. Zero penalties as a result of compliance to environmental regulations and policies.
  14. Minimum of three new clients per month.
