Job Position: Technical Program Manager – Malaria

Job Description

  1. PATH is currently recruiting for a Technical Program Manager, Malaria, to support its malaria portfolio in Nigeria.
  2. The successful applicant will support the day-to-day management and implementation of PATH and MACEPA’s activities in Nigeria – including contributing to strategy and implementation, managing relationships with the National Malaria Control Program and partners, as well as contributing to donor reports and communication with partners.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Maintain strong relationships with government and partner organizations working on malaria in Nigeria to coordinate MACEPA’s support.
  2. Lead MACEPA’s technical assistance and support to the NMEP in the areas of national coordination, surveillance, monitoring and evaluation, improved generation, and use of data for decision making.
  3. Oversee additional in-country staff that will support MACEPA’s CAR portfolio of work.
  4. Direct program support to the government in using data for decision-making for optimized malaria interventions.
  5. Support the development of strategic and technical documents and resource mobilization efforts.
  6. Assess MACEPA’s progress against goals and donor commitments to measure impact, identify program bottlenecks or weaknesses, devise solutions to strengthen programs as necessary and ensure teams are consistently updated on progress and results.
  7. Develop and manage project work plans, and associated implementation, monitoring, and control processes to facilitate accomplishment of strategic objectives.
  8. Support the West Africa regional malaria team in day-to-day project coordination, analysis and review of data, and problem solving.
  9. Work closely with finance and administrative staff to provide regular operational oversight.
  10. Proactively identify and analyze areas of risk and advise project teams on solutions and preventative measures.
  11. Draft key documents, reports, presentations, and other communications materials for a variety of purposes and audiences, summarizing developments and recommendations for program areas and external partners.
  12. Support OIPH-Nigeria (PATH’s local Nigeria affiliate) operational start-up, including support with securing a bank account, identifying a coworking space, and partnering with PATH admin, finance, legal, HR, and accounting teams to ensure compliance with start-up requirements.
  13. Attend monthly operational working group meetings and monthly business development meetings to provide updates and stay aligned with any operational progress or needs.
  14. Serve as a liaison between in-country organizations and global PATH departments to support operational needs.
  15. Contribute to business development to expand PATH portfolio in Nigeria and the West Africa region.
  16. Any other duties as requested by management.
  17. Ability to travel domestically and internationally, up to 30% time.

Job Requirements

  1. Advanced Degree in Public Health, Science or Medicine, Business Administration, Public Policy, or equivalent degree required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Minimum of seven years, professional program management experience with experience directly managing and coordinating complex projects; ideally in malaria projects.
  3. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with staff and partners, provide technical assistance, and coordinate implementation activities.
  4. Excellent interpersonal and diplomatic skills with ability to interact with diverse colleagues and partners, including with government representatives.
  5. Excellent organization, attention to detail, coordination, and collaborative skills.
  6. Excellent oral and written English communication skills required.
