Finchglow Holdings is a premier aviation company providing comprehensive travel management, cargo services, and training across all sectors of the economy, including corporate entities, trade partners, and individuals. Our corporate headquarters is situated in Ikoyi, southwest Lagos.
The group consists of six (6) subsidiaries specializing in various aspects of the aviation industry downstream, along with two (2) affiliates, one of which operates in the upstream aviation sector. We maintain a strong presence across nine (9) locations, including five (5) in Lagos, two (2) in Abuja, and one each in Kano and Port-Harcourt.
Job Position: Legal Manager
Job Location: Lagos
Job Purpose
- The Legal Manager ensures Finchglow Holdings comply with Legal requirements and mitigates against litigation risks and manages legal risks by overseeing contract management, regulatory compliance, and litigation. You will provide strategic legal advice, lead the legal team, and support senior management in achieving organizational goals while safeguarding the company’s interests.
Job Responsibilities
Legal Oversight and Compliance:
- Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations and laws.
- Develop, implement, and maintain internal policies and procedures to support legal and regulatory compliance.
- Conduct legal research and analysis on emerging laws and regulations affecting the company’s operations.
Contract Management:
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including commercial agreements, service agreements, and partnerships.
- Manage and oversee the contract lifecycle, from initial drafting to execution and renewal.
- Implement and oversee a contract management system to streamline processes and ensure compliance. Risk Management:
- Identify and assess potential legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Advise on legal risk management strategies and best practices to minimize exposure.
- Coordinate with external legal counsel when necessary and manage relationships with external law firms.
Litigation Management:
- Oversee and manage ongoing litigation and dispute resolution processes.
- Develop strategies for managing and resolving legal disputes and potential claims.
- Work closely with external counsel and manage litigation budgets and documentation. Advisory Role:
- Provide legal advice and support to senior management and other departments on various legal issues.
- Assist in shaping company policies and strategic initiatives from a legal perspective.
- Offer training and guidance to staff on legal issues and compliance matters.
Documentation and Record-Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and organized legal documentation and records.
- Ensure proper filing, storage, and retrieval of legal documents in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and manage a comprehensive database of legal documents and contracts.
Team Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and develop the legal team, including paralegals and junior legal staff.
- Assign tasks and manage workflow within the legal department.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to team members. Strategic Planning:
- Participate in the development and execution of the company’s strategic plans from a legal perspective.
- Analyze and interpret legal trends and their impact on the company’s business strategy.
Job Requirements
- Education: Juris Doctor (J.D.) Degree from an accredited law school.
- Licensure: Licensed to practice law in Nigeria.
Experience:
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in a legal management role, preferably within a corporate environment.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Extensive knowledge of corporate law, contract law, employment law, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong negotiation, drafting, and analytical skills.
- Proven ability to manage complex legal projects and lead a team.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- High ethical standards and integrity.
