Job Description

  • We are looking for a highly skilled and creative Head of Design to join our dynamic team in the fintech industry, focusing on banking and remittance products for both individuals and businesses.
  • The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading the design team, overseeing the development and execution of innovative, user-centered design strategies across multiple platforms while ensuring scalability and alignment with the company’s brand identity.
  • The Head of Design will play a critical role in scaling design solutions to support extensive feature sets, mentoring other designers to ensure team growth, and ensuring design outputs resonate with our diverse user groups.
  • They must be capable of working independently, conducting research to fully understand products, and fostering a fast-paced design cycle with continuous iterations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead design initiatives across all company platforms, ensuring design strategies are both innovative and user-centered, with a deep understanding of banking and remittance products for individuals and businesses.
  • Manage and coordinate asset design, including illustrations, motion graphics, and other forms of design, ensuring all visual elements align with the company’s brand identity.
  • Drive brand scalability and consistency by enhancing brand identity across multiple touchpoints, ensuring that design executions resonate with each unique user group.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, engineering, and marketing, to ensure alignment on product vision, scalability, and user experience.
  • Conduct independent research to fully understand product needs, competitive landscapes, and user expectations, and translate insights into actionable design frameworks.
  • Lead by example, mentoring and guiding other designers to scale up their skills and performance, fostering a culture of continuous learning and design excellence within the team.
  • Act as a player-coach, balancing hands-on design work with the strategic alignment of business, platform, and customer needs, while staying responsive to rapidly changing product requirements.
  • Build scalable design systems that support massive feature sets, ensuring the design process remains agile and adaptable to changes as new features are rolled out.
  • Ensure fast and continuous shipping of design assets and products, maintaining a design process that delivers within impressive timelines, while still adhering to quality and user experience standards.
  • Champion user-centered design principles, incorporating feedback from user testing, product stakeholders, and market insights to drive product decisions that solve key pain points for both individuals and businesses.
  • Stay ahead of design trends and innovations in fintech, ensuring that the company’s products remain competitive and appealing within a fast-evolving industry landscape.
  • Reports directly to the Chief Product Officer (CPO), ensuring alignment between design strategy and overall product goals.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Design, UI/UX Design, Interaction Design, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in UX design, interaction design, or related roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity. Experience in fintech, banking, or B2B products is essential.
  • Demonstrated experience in asset design, illustration, and motion graphics, with a portfolio showcasing user-centered design solutions across desktop, mobile, and web platforms.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to lead design initiatives, manage stakeholders, and mentor a team of designers.
  • Proficient in design thinking, rapid prototyping, and design systems, with the ability to scale designs for complex, multi-feature products.
  • Deep understanding of fintech products, particularly banking and remittance services, with experience designing for both individuals and businesses.
  • Ability to manage fast-paced design processes with continuous improvements and fast shipping of products.
  • Skilled at collaborating with cross-functional teams and influencing decisions at all organizational levels.
