Job Position: Business Intelligence Lead

Job Description

  • Design and develop technical solutions for Data Warehouse and Analytics systems to meet requirements and integrate with internal/external data systems.
  • Develop BI and Analytics solutions using the Microsoft BI stack and related technologies.
  • Maintain detailed documentation for effective knowledge transfer.
  • Ensure operational availability of accurate and timely data from the Data Warehouse in line with business requirements.
  • Perform data analysis and visualisation using analytical tools to support strategies and policy initiatives for the management.
  • Contribute to technical project management; prepare briefs, reports, and specifications for system projects, business intelligence software, and user-generated discovery tools.
  • Establish collaborative and productive relationships with team members working on projects to achieve agreed outcomes.
  • Provide accurate and timely analysis to ensure decisions and advice are based on the best available data and clearly represent the current situation.

Job Requirements
Functional Competencies:

  • Relevant BCom or BSc Degree / Diploma, preferably in Computer Science, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or Business Informatics.
  • Ten to twelve years of experience in a data or BI analytics role.
  • Familiarity with data collection and database management software and protocols.
  • Excellent analytical and forecasting abilities.
  • Strong communication skills, as you will work with varying skill sets across different business units.
  • Ability to adapt to change and thrive in the fast-paced environment of a dynamic company.
  • Ability to work alongside a team of engineers and analysts, as well as independently, to deliver meaningful insights to the business.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver insights from data.
  • Experience in fintech and managing credit analytics is preferred.

Technical Competencies:

  • Previous experience in a similar BI functional role, preferably in Nigeria’s electricity sector or energy marketing services industry.
  • Over six years of experience using BI tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, Qlik Sense, and Keboola.
  • Solid proficiency in data warehousing concepts (ETL, Stage/Core layer, Dimensional Modelling, Data Marts, etc.) and SQL programming.
  • Experience with SQL databases, such as Oracle or MS SQL Server.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills with a data-oriented mindset.
  • Proficiency in Python programming.
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Probability Theory, Quantitative Analysis, and Statistical Modelling.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and database management systems.
  • A structured, solution-oriented working style to drive projects efficiently.
  • Understanding of Business ERP / SCM / CRM processes is an advantage.

Key Challenges:

  • Designing a scalable, future-proof data warehouse to enable an enterprise view of information
  • Stay abreast of current and emerging trends, Government policy, and statutory requirements to support improvements to data and analytics, processes, and systems
  • Communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences and manage negotiations with diverse stakeholders to support data and analytics, process and system development.
