Job Description

  • The Assistant General Manager, Mechanical, will be responsible for overseeing the mechanical engineering operations within Dangote Cement Plc.
  • This role includes ensuring the efficient utilization of resources, maintaining regulatory compliance, and optimizing mechanical systems to support the organization’s operational goals.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement maintenance strategies to optimize mechanical systems and equipment performance.
  • Lead the mechanical engineering team for project planning, design, installation, and maintenance of machinery.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and operational standards across all mechanical operations.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of machinery and equipment, implementing improvements as necessary.
  • Collaborate with other departments to align mechanical operations with organizational objectives.
  • Manage budgetary constraints and provide cost-effective solutions for mechanical engineering needs.
  • Prepare and present reports on mechanical operations, performance metrics, and project updates to senior management.
  • Conduct training and development programs for the mechanical team to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Oversee procurement processes of mechanical parts and ensure quality standards are met.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the senior management team.

Job Requirements
Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; Master’s degree is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 20 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong technical expertise in mechanical system design and operation.
  • Excellent project management and leadership skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and environmental standards in engineering operations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in engineering software and tools.
