Job Position: Accountant
Job Location: Lagos
Job Description
- We are seeking a skilled and experienced Accountant with a minimum of 6 years of experience to join our team in the real estate sector.
- This role is pivotal to maintaining the financial health and integrity of our operations, supporting decision-making through accurate financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with all applicable accounting standards and regulations.
Job Responsibilities
Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare, analyze, and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Conduct variance analysis to track performance against budgets and forecasts, providing insights to management for decision-making.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Collaborate with management to develop and monitor budgets for real estate projects, ensuring adherence to financial targets.
- Forecast revenue, expenses, and cash flows to support operational and strategic planning.
Revenue and Expense Management:
- Track and reconcile revenue streams from property sales, rentals, and management fees.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely billing, collections, and payment processes.
Investment and Asset Management Support:
- Support real estate investment analysis by preparing cash flow projections, IRR, and ROI calculations.
- Assist in tracking asset performance, managing depreciation, and evaluating asset valuations.
Compliance and Audit:
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory, tax, and statutory requirements, including VAT, income tax, and property taxes.
- Coordinate and prepare documentation for internal and external audits, ensuring adherence to company policies and financial standards.
Financial Controls and Risk Management:
- Implement and maintain internal financial controls to safeguard company assets and prevent discrepancies.
- Monitor and manage financial risks related to credit, cash flow, and operational factors.
Real Estate Project Accounting:
- Maintain accurate accounting records for each property or real estate project, including capital expenditure tracking, project costing, and revenue recognition.
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure timely and accurate financial tracking of project costs and budgets.
ERP and Financial Software Management:
- Use accounting software and ERP systems to maintain financial records, generate reports, and improve financial processes.
- Assist with implementing new financial systems or upgrades to support business growth.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CPA) is preferred.
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in accounting, with specific experience in the real estate sector.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory requirements in the real estate industry.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and ERP systems; advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
