Job Description

  • The Business Unit Manager will set up the Port Operations business vertical. He/She will also drive freight forwarding business and port operations, overall business development, operational set-up and management, and overall business unit efficiency.

Job Responsibilities

  • Business Development – Prospect and onboard customers, manage their expectations, enrich customer experience, and grow market share.
  • Operations Management—Set up the port operations team and structure. The scope includes dry port, seaport, airport, and cross-border operations. The goal is to drive operation excellence and optimize end-to-end lead time.
  • Relationship Management – Develop and maintain strong relationships with relevant regulators, vendors, customers, and other stakeholders.
  • Risk Management – Develop robust risk management governance with a mitigation plan and implement an effective Business Continuity Plan (BCP).
  • Reporting – Established structure(s) that ensures the preparation of accurate and timely commercial and operational reports for management and stakeholders, highlighting key insights and recommendations.
  • Team Management – Recruit, train, motivate, and manage employees, ensuring talent development and retention.
  • Business Management – Ensures an effective operation and a profitable business.
  • Financial Management – Manages Cost-to-Serve, and P&L.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum BSc/HND, preferably in logistics, supply chain, business, or engineering
  • 7+ years of experience in freight forwarding and business development

Key Competencies:

  • Strategic mindset with the ability to drive business growth and a self-starter.
  • Deep knowledge of import/export with operation management skills
  • Proficiency in international trade regulations, Incoterms, customs and port procedures/documentation.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship management, problem-solving, decision-making, and negotiation skills.
  • Result-oriented, proactive, with integrity and honesty.
