Job Position: Head, Account / Financial Controller
Location: Lagos

Job Summary

  1. The Head of Accounts / Financial Controller will be responsible for managing all financial and accounting functions within the dental clinic.
  2. This includes overseeing billing processes, insurance claims, cash flow management, budgeting, financial reporting, tax compliance, and supporting the clinic’s growth with strategic financial insight.
  3. The ideal candidate should have strong healthcare or clinic experience and demonstrate sound knowledge of dental finance operations.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Supervise all accounting operations, including patient billing, insurance claims, vendor payments, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
  2. Ensure accuracy in dental service revenue recognition and oversee proper tracking of receivables.
  3. Generate and present timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to management.
  4. Manage budget planning and control expenditures to align with the clinic’s financial goals.
  5. Oversee cash flow planning and ensure availability of funds for operational needs.
  6. Ensure compliance with tax laws, NHIS, HMO remittances, and other statutory obligations.
  7. Monitor and reconcile inventory usage for dental consumables and supplies in collaboration with procurement.
  8. Establish and maintain internal control policies to safeguard assets and prevent financial irregularities.
  9. Coordinate internal and external audits and resolve audit queries efficiently.
  10. Work closely with operations and clinical management to support data-driven decision-making.
  11. Manage and mentor a small team of accounting or finance officers.

Qualifications and Experience

  1. B.Sc. or HND in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  2. Professional certification, such as ACA, ACCA, or CPA, is required.
  3. Minimum of 5 – 7 years’ experience in accounting or finance, preferably within a healthcare or clinic setting.
  4. Strong understanding of healthcare billing systems, HMO/NHIS processes, and insurance claim management.
  5. Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
  6. Knowledge of dental management systems (like Dentrix or Open Dental) is an advantage.
  7. Experience in managing clinic budgets, service pricing, and vendor reconciliation.
  8. High level of integrity, attention to detail, and analytical thinking.
