Job Position: Chief Operations Officer (COO)
Location: Umuahia, Abia

Job Summary

  1. We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Chief Operations Officer (COO) to lead our operations and ensure the effective delivery of our strategic objectives.
  2. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute meaningfully to a growing organisation and shape impactful community-based programs.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Oversee day-to-day operations of the organisation, ensuring seamless coordination across departments.
  2. Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and strategic initiatives.
  3. Lead program planning, execution, monitoring, and evaluation in alignment with organisational goals.
  4. Facilitate effective community engagement and stakeholder collaboration at the grassroots level.
  5. Identify and drive fundraising strategies and donor engagement.
  6. Supervise financial and administrative functions, promoting optimal resource utilisation.
  7. Maintain accurate records and databases for internal use, reporting, and external communication.
  8. Support the leadership team in long-term planning, risk management, and organisational development.
  9. Facilitate capacity-building initiatives for staff and stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience

  1. A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Administration, Human Relations, Public Health, or other relevant disciplines. A postgraduate qualification is an added advantage.
  2. At least 3 years of relevant experience in nonprofit administration, program management, or related roles.
  3. Demonstrated experience in project implementation, monitoring, reporting, and team coordination.
  4. Interest in areas such as maternal and child health, special education, or disability inclusion is highly desirable

Key Competencies and Skills:

  1. Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  2. Proficiency in data analysis tools, especially Microsoft Excel.
  3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and at least one local language.
  4. Sound knowledge of financial management, budgeting, and compliance.
  5. Experience in grant writing and donor communication.
  6. Understanding of Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) frameworks and impact assessment.
  7. Leadership capabilities with a team-oriented mindset.
  8. Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.
  9. Familiarity with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and their application in development work.
  10. Innovative, strategic thinker with problem-solving abilities.
  11. Highly organised and detail-oriented.
  12. Self-driven, proactive, and able to work with minimal supervision.
  13. Passionate about working with marginalised communities and advancing child health and rights.
