Job Position: Sous Chef
Location: Lagos

Job Description

The Sous Chef is responsible for cooking, planning and managing food preparation in the kitchen.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Assist the Head Chef in creating menu items and meal designs.
  2. Ensure that all kitchen stations and equipment are clean, organised and sanitised.
  3. Assist the Head Chef in the administration and training of new kitchen staff.
  4. Implement effective budgeting and planning strategies to minimise waste.
  5. Supervise and manage the cooks and stewards.
  6. Ensure that food is prepared in a safe and sanitary manner, in compliance with local and state health codes.
  7. Monitor kitchen cleanliness and ensure that all equipment is properly maintained.
  8. Assist in training staff on proper food handling and safety practices and ensure that they are followed consistently.
  9. Ensure food quality and standards are maintained for all dishes created.
  10. Monitor inventory levels of food and supplies and place orders as needed.
  11. Ensure that kitchen supplies are fresh and of high quality.
  12. Ensure proper food temperature when cooking and FIFO storage afterwards.
  13. Provide supportive leadership to kitchen staff throughout food service.
  14. Consistently adhere to personal hygiene standards, with 100% compliance in wearing appropriate protective gear, including hairnets, gloves, and aprons, as well as maintaining a clean and well-groomed appearance.
  15. Take charge of kitchen opening and closing.
  16. Perform any other task assigned.

Competency and Skill Requirements
Technical Skills:

  1. In-depth knowledge of food principles and best practices.
  2. Hands-on experience with planning menus and meal preparation.
  3. Knowledge of a wide range of recipes.
  4. Experience in managing inventories and stocktaking.
  5. Knowledge of kitchen sanitation and safety regulations.

Soft Skills:

  1. Excellent organisational skills

Salary
N200,000 – N300,000 / Month.
