Job Position: Accounts Assistant
Location: Ikeja, Lagos
Job Responsibilities
- Ensure that the auxiliary ledger is fully reconciled every month (Balance must be nil).
- Ensure Ledger proofing of all ledgers assigned to you every month.
- Call up and download various schedules and Ledgers as requested.
- Participate in the preparation and update of schedules (Proof of Account Balances) for bank-related balances and other assigned ledgers.
- Responding promptly to internal requests.
- Responsible for executing additional ad-hoc tasks as assigned by the SFO and Chief Accountant.
- Identify Asset purchases from Petty Cash transactions (in exceptional cases), post to the appropriate ledger, and hand invoice/receipt/voucher to personnel responsible for Fixed Assets register maintenance for onward update of the Fixed Assets Register
- Analyse bank-wide Petty Cash transactions monthly and point out exceptions to the Financial Control Function for further review and investigation, not later than the 10th day of the subsequent month.
- Ensure that Petty Cash vouchers received from branches are appropriately filed and labelled for easy access and retrieval monthly.
- Post approved Journals into respective account heads.
- Ensure that the previous day’s payments to external vendors prepared by the Treasury unit are posted to the appropriate account heads.
Necessary Experience and Requirements
- Minimum educational qualification of a National Diploma in Accounting.
- 1 – 2 years of relevant work experience is an advantage.
- Sound knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Concepts and Principles.
- Working knowledge of the use of Microsoft Excel.
- Adaptability to high-volume transaction environment.
- Strong commitment to fulfilment of results.
- Diligent, detail-oriented and good analytical skills.
- Good communication skills (Verbal and written).
- Ability to work under pressure.
