Job Summary

The Head, Human Resources is directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination and strategic evaluation of the human resources department for the entire group.

He/she will be responsible for all Human Resources related solutions that influence business decisions.

The Head, HR will also improve HR initiatives, enhancing staff morale and relations between staff and management, contributing to attaining business goals, promoting good HR practices and attracting talented recruits to meet the organisation’s needs.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Develops organisation strategies by identifying and researching human resources issues; contributing information, analysis, and recommendations to organisation strategic thinking and direction; establishing human resources objectives in line with organisational objectives.
  2. Implements human resources strategies by establishing department accountabilities, including talent acquisition, staffing, employment processing, compensation, health and welfare benefits, training and development, records management, safety and health, succession planning, employee relations and retention, and labour relations.
  3. Manages human resources operations by overseeing recruitment, selection, orientation, training, coaching, counselling, and disciplining of staff; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing staff job contributions; maintaining compensation; determining production, productivity, quality, and customer-service strategies; designing systems; accumulating resources; resolving problems; and implementing change.
  4. Develops human resources operations budgets and financial strategies by estimating, forecasting, and anticipating requirements, trends, and variances; aligning monetary resources; developing action plans, measuring and analysing results; initiating corrective actions; and minimising the impact of variances.
  5. Accomplishes special project results by identifying and clarifying issues and priorities; communicating and coordinating requirements; expediting fulfilment; evaluating milestone accomplishments; evaluating optional courses of action; changing assumptions and direction.
  6. Supports management by providing human resources advice, counsel, and decisions; analysing information and applications.
  7. Guides management and employee actions by researching, developing, writing, and updating policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines; communicating and enforcing organisation values.
  8. Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  9. Updates job knowledge by participating in conferences and educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; and participating in professional organisations.
  10. Enhances department and organisation reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  11. Lead and support the development and implementation of HR policy across all units of the department and areas of the organisation, including improving performance, maximising attendance and providing effective management of change and development.
  12. Direct and work with the HR team to develop, coordinate, implement and audit all HR activity within the department and across the organisation.
  13. Assists executive management in the annual review, preparation and administration of the group’s salary productivity target.
  14. Works directly with department managers to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters.
  15. Participates in committees and special projects and seeks additional responsibilities.
  16. Maintain effective employee relations, including participation, consultation and negotiation with representative bodies and ensure maintenance of productive working relationships with all colleagues.
  17. Ensure effective implementation of the disciplinary and grievance procedures for all employee groups.
  18. Effectively oversee all human resources activities, authorisations and approvals.
  19. Ensure smooth, seamless operations and coherence both intra- and inter-departmentally
  20. Periodically receives and collates reports from all unit heads, and sends to management accordingly.
  21. Any other tasks as may be deemed necessary by management.
  22. Measuring and analysing results; initiating corrective actions; minimising the impact of variances.

Qualifications / Requirements

  1. A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management or any other related field.
  2. At least 7 years post-graduation experience, with cognitive experience in full-cycle HR experience
  3. 4 additional years of relevant experience may be substituted instead of a degree.
  4. Excellent knowledge of MS Office, more importantly, Excel, with an ability to analyse data.
  5. Recognised professional qualification (e.g. CIPD, CIPM, PHRi, SPHRi).

Salary
N700,000 monthly (Gross).
