Job Position: Associate Finance Officer
Location: Ikoyi, Lagos
Job Description
We are looking for a highly motivated Associate Finance Officer to join our dynamic Finance team. The ideal candidate will support financial planning, reporting, and compliance functions, ensuring smooth financial operations in a fast-paced environment. You will work closely with internal teams, external partners, and regulatory bodies to manage financial data, optimise financial processes, and contribute to strategic decision-making.
Responsibilities
Financial Operations & Reporting:
- Assist in preparing financial statements, management reports, and regulatory filings.
- Support the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial regulations.
- Maintain financial records and reconcile accounts, including bank statements, invoices, and expenses.
- Monitor financial transactions and ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Assist in developing budgets, financial projections, and cash flow forecasts.
- Track financial performance and identify variances against budgeted targets.
- Provide insights and recommendations to improve financial efficiency and profitability.
Regulatory & Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to financial regulations, tax requirements, and industry standards.
- Assist in audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to queries.
- Work with the compliance team to ensure regulatory reporting requirements are met.
Financial Analysis & Strategy:
- Analyse key financial data to support strategic decision-making.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and improve financial workflows.
- Contribute to financial models for investment opportunities, pricing strategies, and risk assessment.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Product, Operations, and Risk, to ensure financial alignment with business goals.
- Support investor relations and financial due diligence processes when needed.
- Liaise with banks, auditors, and regulatory bodies as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (Professional membership with ICAN is a plus).
- 2+ years of experience in Finance, Accounting, or a related role (preferably in fintech, banking, or financial services).
- Solid knowledge of financial and accounting procedures/regulations.
- Knowledge of fintech regulations, digital payments, and financial risk management is an advantage.
- Strong work ethic, with an ability to manage confidential data.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Accounting software and Financial Management systems (QuickBooks).
