Job Position: Agri-Food Laboratory Technical Manager
Location: Sagamu, Ogun

Job Description

The job incumbent is responsible for the operational organisation in all aspects of operations and for setting up, delegating, managing and when necessary, adjusting the operational activities on tactical and operational level and to give feedback to the management team and other departments.

Drive Profit and Loss of Agri Food Laboratory (Africa Quality Assurance Centre -AQAC). The position is responsible for the overall technical activity of the Agri-food Laboratory. Position based in Shagamu but may require travel.

The Agri-Food Laboratory Technical Manager performs the job within the framework of the BV Quality Assurance System, the Code of Ethics and the BV Group policies, procedures & Absolutes as well as ISO 17025 standards and GLP.

KPIs
Operational:

  1. Maintain Accreditation (ISO 17025 & other LTOs)
  2. Elaborating on the yearly operational action plan in agreement with N+1 for his/her team
  3. Defining operational and productivity targets within the action plan
  4. Analyse monthly financial results and initiate corrective actions
  5. Carry out monitoring of operational performance (realised days, reporting, service, productivity ratio, etc) to be aligned with KPI‟s
  6. Carry out monitoring of operating expenses
  7. Develop/select and monitor own staff
  8. Supervise work performed in the laboratory
  9. Define procedures and quality standards for laboratory activities
  10. Manage team training (scientists, technicians, assistants)
  11. Handle administrative aspects of personnel management with the support of the HR Dpt
  12. Supervise inventory management and supply of materials
  13. Coordinate maintenance activities for laboratory structures, instruments and machinery
  14. Ensure compliance with laboratory safety standards
  15. Handle customer complaints
  16. Technical study of projects and contracts
  17. Development of new methods
  18. plan and manage laboratory analysis and testing activities
  19. Manage the Sales Team to increase revenue

Management / Leadership:

  1. Lead and coach employees (individual development, motivation, assessment, feedback)
  2. Recruiting, staffing, qualification, reviewing and training
  3. Provide technical support to his/her team.
  4. Provide operational support by coordinating interfaces to the responsible organisational units
  5. Organise (prepare, execute, follow-up) regular operational meetings with his team
  6. Create and maintain relationships with large accounts through regular visits
  7. Develop and train his staff to be fit for the demand of the market
  8. Empower the team members based on skills and competencies
  9. Delegation of tasks in agreement with the supervisor
  10. Financials: Revenue, Profitability & DSO)
  11. Productivity per head
  12. TAT
  13. Customer satisfaction
  14. Number of customer complaints
  15. Occupancy rate
  16. Cost control.

Requirements

  1. Diploma or Degree in Analytical Chemistry
  2. A diploma or a degree in Management
  3. Must have min. 5-10 years of laboratory and management experience.
  4. Technical experience in an Agri-food ISO 17025 accredited laboratory
  5. Good communication skills (verbal and written)
  6. Fluent in English, another language like French is a plus
  7. Understanding of QHSE processes
  8. MO365 Proficient.
