Job Position: Finance Manager
Location: Lagos

About the Role

We are looking for someone who will be responsible for managing the accuracy of financial reporting and overseeing day-to-day financial operations. This includes ensuring compliance with local financial regulations, assisting with budgeting and forecasting, and providing key business insights to support decision-making.

The role requires strong financial analysis skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across teams to maintain financial integrity and optimise business performance.

Job Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Management:

  1. Manage monthly financial close processes, ensure completeness and accuracy of financial statements.
  2. Manage the company’s end-to-end accounting books, i.e. record to report cycle.
  3. Perform month-end financial close processes and prepare financials.
  4. Prepare the annual budget and maintain a rolling cash flow forecast.
  5. Prepare financial analyses, reports and presentations for internal stakeholders.
  6. Monitor, analyse and control budgets across various business functions.
  7. Prepare statutory financial statements and manage the annual audit process with external auditors.
  8. Manage the working capital cycle.
  9. Manage bank payments.
  10. Drive process improvements and efficiencies in the finance function.

Taxation & Regulatory Compliance:

  1. Requiring a comprehensive understanding of Nigerian tax regulations, including VAT, CIT, PAYE, WHT and other statutory obligations, is essential.
  2. File and manage tax returns and maintain compliance with Nigeria’s regulatory bodies, such as the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
  3. Oversee and coordinate all VAT and tax return filings.
  4. Stay abreast of changes in tax legislation, advising the company on potential impacts and strategies for compliance.

Manage Fin. Ops Function:

  1. Review daily payments reconciliations and ensure processes are in place to perform accurate and timely settlements.
  2. Proactively identify and resolve reconciliation gaps and exceptions.
  3. Act as the primary point of contact for FinOps-related inquiries, providing clarity and resolution to stakeholders.
  4. Independently lead and drive projects and process improvements to enhance operational efficiency across the organisation.

Financial Leadership:

  1. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Business Development and Operations, on various company-wide matters.
  2. Collaborate with the Head Office team on day-to-day matters and special projects as needed.
  3. Own the market P&L and work with the CFO to identify areas of revenue accretion and cost optimisation to run a profitable business

Team Development & Management:

  1. Build, mentor and lead a high-performing Finance and Fin.Ops team in Nigeria.
  2. Provide ongoing training and development opportunities to team members.
  3. Set performance objectives and conduct reviews for accountability and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  1. CPA, ACCA, or ICAN (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria) qualification is required.
  2. A minimum of 10 years of relevant finance and accounting experience, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial role.
  3. Previous experience with a Big 4 accounting firm is strongly preferred.
  4. Hands-on experience with an ERP (especially Oracle) is a significant advantage.
  5. Having Treasury experience, especially around cross-border settlements, is a plus.
  6. Proficient in Google Workspace tools like Google Drive, Sheets, Slides and Docs.
  7. Strong business communication and interpersonal communication.
  8. Demonstrates flexibility and agility in responding to dynamic business needs.
  9. Experience in the payments industry, fintech or startup environment is a plus.
