Job Description
We are seeking a proactive and strategic Business Development Manager to join our dynamic fintech sales team.
This role is responsible for driving business growth by identifying new opportunities, overseeing the onboarding of merchants, and ensuring consistent revenue generation through effective team leadership and relationship management.
The ideal candidate should possess excellent communication and negotiation skills, a results-oriented mindset, and the ability to lead Business Development Executives (BDEs) to meet set performance goals.
Job Responsibilities
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities to meet and exceed sales and revenue targets.
- Supervise and support BDEs to ensure the successful onboarding of high-potential merchants and deployment of POS terminals.
- Monitor daily field operations to ensure BDEs regularly visit merchant locations for transaction tracking and prompt issue resolution.
- Drive achievement of key performance indicators (KPIs), including transaction volume, value, merchant retention, and overall revenue growth.
- Ensure all BDEs consistently meet their targets for merchant acquisition and transaction performance.
- Reactivate inactive merchant accounts through strategic engagement, follow-up calls, and on-site visits.
- Develop and implement impactful sales strategies and initiatives to boost customer acquisition and product adoption.
- Build and nurture strong relationships with clients by understanding their business needs and ensuring satisfaction with deployed solutions.
- Conduct regular market intelligence and competitor analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for expansion.
- Stay informed on evolving fintech and payment industry trends to support agile and informed decision-making.
- Provide accurate and timely reports on team performance, market activity, and revenue forecasts to senior management.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4–6 years’ experience in business development, sales, or merchant acquisition—preferably in fintech, agency banking, or digital payments.
- Proven ability to lead sales teams and meet revenue targets.
- Strong analytical, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficient in MS Excel and CRM or sales tracking tools.
- Self-motivated, target-driven, and adaptable to a fast-paced fintech environment.
Salary
N200,000 – N240,000 / month.
