Job Position: Accounting and Tax Officer
Location: Abuja (FCT)

Purpose of the Role

  1. To provide accurate, timely, and compliant accounting and tax management services for the organisation.
  2. The officer will ensure proper financial controls, maintain statutory compliance, and strengthen the integrity of the organisation’s financial systems.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Accounting & Financial Management
    • Maintain accurate financial records and ledgers.
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
    • Conduct regular reconciliations of bank accounts and ledgers.
    • Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
  2. Tax Compliance
    • Ensure timely preparation and filing of VAT, WHT, PAYE, Company Income Tax, and other statutory obligations.
    • Maintain updated knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and regulations.
    • Liaise with tax authorities to resolve queries and audits.
    • Provide advisory support to management on tax planning and compliance.
  3. Audit & Regulatory Compliance
    • Support both internal and external audits with accurate documentation.
    • Ensure compliance with all financial reporting standards and statutory guidelines.
    • Maintain accurate documentation for transparency and accountability.
  4. Systems & Controls
    • Strengthen accounting processes, controls, and reporting frameworks.
    • Implement best practices in bookkeeping and tax management.
    • Maintain confidentiality a nd integrity of all financial data.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  1. 100% compliance with all statutory tax deadlines.
  2. Timely submission of monthly and quarterly financial reports.
  3. Zero penalties from tax or regulatory authorities.
  4. Accuracy of financial statements and reconciliations.
  5. Successful completion of audits without major queries.

Qualifications and Experience

  1. B.Sc. or HND in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  2. Minimum of 3 – 5 years relevant experience in accounting and tax roles.
  3. A professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, ICAN, CITN) is an added advantage.
  4. Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and compliance procedures.
  5. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Zoho Sage, or similar).
  6. Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
