Job Summary

We are looking for a reliable and experienced Procurement Personnel to join our supermarket team in Anthony, Lagos.

The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience purchasing goods directly from the open market, strong negotiation skills, and a deep understanding of retail supply needs.

This role requires someone street-smart, detail-oriented, and capable of ensuring consistent product availability at the best possible prices.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Purchase goods and supplies for the supermarket, especially from the open market.
  2. Negotiate effectively with suppliers, traders, and wholesalers to secure competitive prices and favourable terms.
  3. Ensure the quality, freshness, and quantity of goods purchased meet supermarket standards.
  4. Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, open market traders, and wholesalers.
  5. Monitor inventory levels and work with store managers to determine stock needs.
  6. Maintain proper records of all procurement activities, including invoices and receipts.
  7. Conduct regular market surveys to track product prices, availability, and seasonal trends.
  8. Minimise stockouts and wastage by aligning purchases with demand forecasts.
  9. Ensure the timely delivery of goods to the supermarket.
  10. Collaborate with the finance team for payment processing and proper documentation.
  11. Prepare regular procurement reports and highlight cost-saving initiatives.

Requirements

  1. HND / Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  2. Minimum of 3–5 years’ proven experience in procurement, with specific experience in open market purchasing (essential).
  3. Strong knowledge of retail operations, market pricing, and vendor management.
  4. Excellent negotiation, bargaining, and communication skills.
  5. Ability to evaluate product quality and value for money in fast-paced market settings.
  6. High integrity and accountability in handling cash and transactions.
  7. Proficiency in MS Office (Excel/Word) for basic reporting.
  8. Must live within or around Anthony, Lagos, for proximity and ease of market runs.
