Job Position: Head of Communication
Location: Asokoro, Abuja (FCT)

Job Purpose

The Head of Communication and Content Creation will spearhead Mai Shayi Coffee Roasters Limited’s internal and external communication strategy, brand positioning, storytelling, and content development.

The role is responsible for shaping and promoting the company’s brand identity through effective communication channels, driving engagement across social media platforms, and creating compelling content that resonates with diverse audiences.

This individual will serve as the custodian of Mai Shayi’s voice and image, ensuring consistent and innovative representation of the company across traditional and digital platforms.

Job Responsibilities
Strategic Communication:

  1. Develop and implement a comprehensive communication and content strategy aligned with the company’s brand values, vision, and growth objectives.
  2. Position Mai Shayi Coffee Roasters as a thought leader in the Nigerian coffee culture and hospitality industry.
  3. Manage corporate communications to foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, media, partners, and the broader community.
  4. Ensure brand consistency in all communications, campaigns, and promotional materials.

Content Creation & Management:

  1. Lead the creative direction, planning, and production of high-quality written, visual, and audiovisual content for various platforms (blogs, social media, newsletters, videos, podcasts, and advertising campaigns).
  2. Oversee and manage the company’s social media presence (Instagram, X, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.) to increase brand visibility and customer engagement.
  3. Monitor trends and analytics to optimise content performance, ensuring measurable growth in audience reach and engagement.
  4. Guide storytelling efforts to showcase Mai Shayi’s products, brand values, sustainability efforts, and customer experiences.

Media & Public Relations:

  1. Develop and maintain media relations with key press, influencers, and bloggers to enhance the brand’s visibility.
  2. Prepare press releases, media kits, and corporate announcements.
  3. Represent the company in public forums, events, and industry gatherings.

Team Leadership & Collaboration:

  1. Lead, mentor, and supervise the communication and content creation team.
  2. Collaborate with marketing, sales, and operations teams to align communication strategies with business goals.
  3. Manage external vendors, creative agencies, and freelancers where necessary.

Monitoring & Evaluation:

  1. Track, measure, and report on the effectiveness of communication strategies and content campaigns.
  2. Provide data-driven recommendations for improvement.
  3. Ensure adherence to budgets and timelines.

Qualifications and Requirements

  1. Master’s Degree in Mass Communication, Media Studies, Journalism, or related field.
  2. Minimum of 5 years’ progressive experience in communication, media, content creation, or brand management.
  3. Demonstrated experience managing content across diverse platforms (print, broadcast, digital, and social media).
  4. Strong command of modern communication tools, digital marketing platforms, and social media management tools (Buffer, Meta Business Suite, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.).
  5. Excellent writing, editing, storytelling, and presentation skills.
  6. Strong leadership and team management experience.
  7. Ability to think strategically, creatively, and innovatively with attention to detail.
  8. Proven experience in public relations, stakeholder management, and corporate branding.
  9. Photography, video editing, or graphic design skills (an added advantage).
  10. Strong organisational and project management abilities.
