Job Position: Head Office Internal Control Officer
Location: Victoria Island, Lagos

Job Description

  1. Develop and implement internal control policies, procedures, and guidelines in accordance with regulatory standards and best practices.
  2. Conduct regular assessments of the bank’s internal control systems to identify weaknesses, gaps, or non-compliance issues.
  3. Perform risk assessments to identify potential areas of risk and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  4. Review and evaluate financial transactions, processes, and documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established policies and procedures.
  5. Monitor compliance with anti-money laundering (AML) and know your customer (KYC) regulations to prevent financial crimes.
  6. Conduct periodic audits of operational areas to assess adherence to policies and identify opportunities for improvement.
  7. Investigate irregularities, discrepancies, or suspected fraud and recommend corrective actions.
  8. Provide training and guidance to staff on internal control procedures and compliance requirements.
  9. Collaborate with other departments, such as risk management, compliance, and internal audit, to address control-related issues and implement solutions.
  10. Prepare and submit reports on internal control findings, recommendations, and actions taken to management and regulatory authorities.
  11. Ensure timely escalation of identified events that could lead to material loss to ensure timely mitigation of exposures and execute assurance.
  12. Deploy frameworks and key risk indicators for identification, assessment, measurement, reporting, monitoring, and mitigating both emerging and existing exposures.
  13. Drive the automation of Reconciliation and Proofing processes for the affiliate.

Requirements

  1. Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s Degree with relevant experience.
