Job Position: Finance Officer – Commercial
Location: Abuja (FCT)

The Role

The Finance Officer – Commercial is responsible for managing the financial records of MSI Nigeria Reproductive Choices’ centres and social marketing channels in line with asset management policies, while carrying out reviews, documentation, and reconciliation activities.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Implement accounting and internal control systems to protect against fraud, waste and misuse of financial resources while ensuring segregation of duties in the processing of transactions.
  2. Prepare a bank reconciliation report every month.
  3. Process and Post payments to Team Members, Vendors, and other 3rd Parties for the Social Marketing and Centre channels within the enabling financial processing platform as they occur.
  4. Daily transaction inputting into MSI Nigeria’s SUN accounting system.
  5. Ensure that expenses are properly coded and allocated to the relevant cost centres/projects.
  6. Review and process cash requests/retirements. Periodic review of staff accounts and proper allocation of retired expenses against the cash advance.
  7. Maintain an Expenditure tracker to account for all payments (actual and pending).
  8. Review and post Clinic Income and Service Data from EHR software into the SUN accounting system.
  9. Review and approve claims from the commercial field team on the SORT Platform.
  10. Ensure the remittance of all statutory deductions to the appropriate authorities within the commercial channels.
  11. Ensure proper controls are placed at the centre/social marketing channels and provide support to centre manager(s) in time.
  12. Ensure WHT are being deducted and deposited to the authorities/states in time.
  13. Ensure that expenses/retirements are properly filed on SharePoint.
  14. Quarterly supportive supervision visits to centres and ensure all controls are in place and are working effectively.
  15. Advise the FM on the upgradation of financial procedures and policies as and when required and on a timely basis.
  16. Prepare the centre MER monthly report and ensure that all transactions are captured into the financial system
  17. Any other duties as may be requested by the Finance Manager – Commercial or any other Senior Management Team members.

Key Experience / Qualification / Skills

  1. First Degree (Second Class or higher) in Accounting or any other Finance-related subject
  2. 3-5 years post-NYSC experience in accounting or related field in NGO and INGO.
  3. Working knowledge of different donors, USAID, DFID and BMGF.
  4. Relevant professional qualification (ACA, ACCA).
  5. Proficiency in the use of the SUN accounting System.
  6. Ability to use the EHR system, SORT system, and to apply advanced Excel skills is preferred.
  7. Ability to multitask, manage workload, and produce high-quality reports.
  8. Good team players, flexible while working with other colleagues
  9. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; fluent in English
  10. Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Office
  11. Quick learning abilities
  12. Ability to manage a high-level workload and meet tight deadlines.
  13. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
