Job Position: People and Culture Officer
Location: Lagos, Nigeria
Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced and people-focused People & Culture Officer to join our team full-time.
This role will be primarily based in Lagos, Nigeria, but remote and will be responsible for overseeing recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and performance management, as well as implementing policies, training programs, and engagement initiatives.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with at least 3 – 4 years of HR or people operations experience who is passionate about employee growth, engagement, and organisational culture.
Job Responsibilities
- Leads HR initiatives, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, training & development and performance evaluation.
- Develop and implement HR policies and training programs.
- Manages employee benefits and compensation programs.
- Lead employee engagement, diversity, and inclusion efforts.
- Provide conflict resolution and workplace support.
- Ensures compliance with all relevant labour laws, company policies and best HR practices.
- Develops and implements employee engagement programs and initiatives.
- Maintains accurate employee records and ensures data privacy and security.
- May be involved in organisational development and change management initiatives.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 3 – 4 years of relevant experience in HR, people operations, or organisational development, preferably in a nonprofit or social impact setting.
- Demonstrated experience in recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and employee relations.
- Knowledge of labour laws, HR compliance requirements, and best practices in people management.
- Proven ability to design and implement HR policies, training programs, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust across all levels of the organisation.
- Experience managing compensation, benefits, and HR systems, with attention to data privacy and security.
- Ability to navigate conflict resolution and provide workplace support with empathy and professionalism.
- Familiarity with diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) principles and experience applying them in HR practices.
- Proactive, resourceful, and able to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
- Strong alignment with She Code Africa’s mission and values.
