Job Position: Senior Audit Executive
Location: Ikeja, Lagos

Job Summary

The Senior Audit Executive is responsible for conducting and supervising internal audit assignments to ensure compliance with financial regulations, internal control systems, and company policies.

The role involves evaluating operational efficiency, risk management processes, and financial accuracy to provide recommendations that enhance organisational performance and governance.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Plan and execute internal audit assignments in line with the annual audit plan and audit standards.
  2. Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, risk management, and governance processes.
  3. Review financial statements and accounting records for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting standards (IFRS, GAAP).
  4. Identify control weaknesses, process inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.
  5. Prepare detailed audit reports with findings, risks, and practical recommendations for management action.
  6. Conduct follow-up reviews to ensure corrective actions are implemented effectively.
  7. Support external auditors by providing necessary documentation and clarifications.
  8. Assist in developing and updating audit policies, procedures, and risk-based audit frameworks.
  9. Monitor compliance with statutory regulations, tax requirements, and internal policies.
  10. Provide training, supervision, and mentoring to junior audit staff.
  11. Participate in special investigations, fraud detection, and due diligence assignments as required.

Skills and Competencies:

  1. Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
  2. Sound knowledge of auditing standards (IIA, ISA) and financial reporting principles.
  3. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, accounting software (e.g., SAP, Tally, QuickBooks, or Oracle), and audit tools.
  4. Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  5. Strong communication and report-writing skills.
  6. Integrity, confidentiality, and high professional ethics.

Qualifications and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  2. Professional certification: ICAN (preferred) or ACCA, or equivalent.
  3. 4–6 years of relevant audit experience, preferably in a reputable audit firm or internal audit department.
  4. Experience in risk-based auditing and internal control assessment is an added advantage.

Work Environment:

  1. Office-based role with occasional travel to company branches.
  2. Requires interaction with all departments and senior management.

Work Days:

  1. Mon – Sat (8:30 am to 6 pm).

Salary
N300,000 – N450,000 monthly
