Job Position: Head of Accounts
Location: Ikeja, Lagos

Job Description

The Head of Accounts is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the company, which includes a retail mall, fashion store, and events centre.

The role involves providing strategic financial guidance, ensuring robust financial controls, regulatory compliance, accurate reporting, and efficient management of accounting processes across all business units.

Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Strategy:

  1. Lead and coordinate financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting for all entities within the group.
  2. Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic business decisions.
  3. Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls across the group.

Accounting Operations:

  1. Oversee the preparation and consolidation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  2. Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with applicable accounting standards (e.g., IFRS).
  3. Supervise general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and fixed asset accounting.
  4. Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations.

Compliance & Audit:

  1. Ensure full compliance with statutory requirements, including tax filings (VAT, PAYE, WHT), regulatory returns, and audit obligations.
  2. Coordinate both internal and external audits, and implement audit recommendations.
  3. Ensure compliance with all financial and accounting regulations applicable to the retail, fashion, and events industries.

Team Management:

  1. Lead, supervise, and develop the accounting team across the group.
  2. Promote a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement within the finance department.
  3. Facilitate regular training and capacity development for finance staff.

Cashflow & Treasury Management:

  1. Monitor cash flow, manage working capital, and oversee treasury functions.
  2. Liaise with financial institutions regarding facilities, banking operations, and funding requirements.
  3. Implement and monitor effective cost control and risk management strategies.

Systems & Reporting Tools:

  1. Oversee the implementation and optimal use of accounting and ERP systems across all business units.
  2. Ensure data integrity and accurate financial analytics for management decision-making.
  3. Generate regular financial performance reports for senior management.
