Job Position: Legal Officer
Location: Victoria Island, Lagos

Job Summary

Are you an accomplished legal professional with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the real estate and construction industry?

As an Experienced Legal Officer, you will play a pivotal role in providing legal counsel and support to our Group’s operations and companies.

Your responsibilities will include overseeing legal compliance, managing complex contracts and agreements, resolving disputes, and safeguarding the interests of our organisation.

This position offers a unique opportunity to work on challenging projects and collaborate with a diverse team of professionals.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Review, draft, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and legal documents related to real estate transactions, construction projects, land acquisitions and other corporate governance
  2. Provide expert legal advice and guidance to internal stakeholders, including senior management, sales, marketing, project teams, and other departments.
  3. Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  4. Collaborate effectively with external legal counsel and represent the company in legal proceedings, negotiations, and settlements.
  5. Identify and mitigate legal risks, anticipate potential issues, and develop effective strategies for their resolution.
  6. Stay updated on changes in legislation and industry practices that impact real estate construction activities, hospitality, investments, etc
  7. Contribute to the development and implementation of legal policies, procedures, and best practices within the organisation.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Law or a related field; additional certifications or advanced degrees will be highly regarded.
  2. A minimum of 5 years of proven experience as a Legal Officer or similar role within the real estate and construction industry.
  3. Extensive knowledge of real estate and construction laws, regulations, and legal frameworks.
  4. Strong understanding of contract law, property law, and relevant commercial legislation.
  5. Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
  6. Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
  8. Proficiency in legal research and utilising legal databases and software.
