Job Position: Procurement Manager
Location: NASCON – HO
Job Purpose
Responsible for leading and executing the sourcing, purchasing, and supplier management activities required to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
The role ensures cost-effective procurement of raw materials, spare parts, consumables, and services, while maintaining the highest standards of quality, compliance, and operational efficiency.
Job Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing & Procurement:
- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with production targets and business objectives.
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable suppliers for raw materials, engineering spares, packaging materials, and services.
- Conduct market research and maintain visibility on price trends, supply risks, and emerging alternatives.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and service-level agreements to ensure optimal value and cost savings.
Supplier Relationship & Performance Management:
- Build strong relationships with local and international suppliers.
- Manage supplier performance using KPIs—quality, delivery timeliness, cost, and compliance.
- Lead periodic supplier evaluations, audits, and revalidation exercises.
- Resolve supply issues, disputes, and quality concerns in collaboration with Production and QA/QC.
Operational Procurement Management:
- Oversee end-to-end procurement cycles—raising PRs, RFQs, bid analysis, PO issuance, expediting, and delivery.
- Ensure timely supply of materials to support production schedules and prevent stockout.
- Collaborate with Warehouse, Logistics, and Production on inventory planning and optimization.
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, SOPs, and audit requirements.
Cost & Inventory Optimisation:
- Implement cost-reduction initiatives without compromising quality.
- Support inventory control by ensuring appropriate order quantities (EOQ), safety stock levels, and lead-time management.
- Partner with Finance to track spending, budget adherence, and cost forecasts.
Risk & Compliance Management:
- Identify supply chain risks and develop mitigation plans.
- Ensure proper documentation, contract compliance, and adherence to local and international procurement regulations.
- Enforce ethical procurement practices and prevent conflicts of interest.
Team Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and supervise the procurement team.
- Build team capability in negotiation, supplier management, and technical understanding of materials.
- Monitor performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications / Knowledge / Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Master’s degree or relevant certifications (CIPS, CPSM, PMP) are an added advantage
- 5+ years’ experience in procurement within a manufacturing or industrial environment
- 2+ years’ experience in a supervisory capacity
- Strong knowledge of raw materials, spare parts, technical specifications, and manufacturing supply chain processes
- Proficiency in the ERP system (SAP).
