Job Position: Account Officer

Job Location: Ikoyi, Lagos

Job Description

  1. We are seeking a young, vibrant, highly skilled and dedicated Account Officer to join our organization.
  2. As an Account Officer, you will be responsible for managing financial transactions, and payments for our currency brokerage services in the financial industry in Nigeria.
  3. An integral part of your job will be to maintain excellent relationships with bank account officers and ensure smooth trading operations and payment follow-ups.
  4. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in finance, exceptional attention to detail, and excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Execute and manage financial transactions, including currency conversions, FX trades, and fixed income deals.
  2. Ensure accuracy and promptness in executing transactions to meet clients’ requirements and organizational goals.
  3. Collaborate with the trading team to ensure seamless execution of currency swaps and provide necessary support for profitable outcomes.
  4. Monitor payment processes, including tracking and reconciliation of trade-related payments.
  5. Liaise with banks, and other relevant partiesto resolve any payment-related issues efficiently.
  6. Build and maintain strong relationships with bank account officers to facilitate smooth banking operations.
  7. Proactively engage with bank representatives for account-related matters, including documentation, transaction approvals, and resolving issues.
  8. Adhere to regulatory requirements and internal policies while executing financial transactions.
  9. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and industry regulations, including KYC, AML, and other compliance standards.
  10. Prepare regular reports on financial transactions, trade activities, and paymentstatuses.
  11. Provide updates and insights to management, highlighting critical issues and proposing appropriate solutions.
  12. Provide exceptional customer service by promptly addressing inquiries and resolving issues related to financial transactions.
  13. Maintain accurate records of all transactions and payments.
  14. Prepare and organize necessary documentation for audits, compliance checks, and internal reviews.

Job Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  2. At least 2 years’ experience working in the finance industry.
  3. Proven experience in financial services, preferably in currency brokerage.
  4. Strong understanding of financial markets, currency conversions, and fixed-income dealing.
  5. Knowledge of payment processing systems and deal settlement practices.
  6. Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with numerical data accurately.
  7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, bank officers, and internal stakeholders.
  9. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  10. Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  11. Familiarity with relevant regulations and compliance standards.
  12. Professional certifications such as ACCA, ICAN, or CFA required.
