Job Description

We seek a competent and experienced Accountant to strengthen our finance team and ensure sound financial practices across all business units. The Accountant will be responsible for managing day-to-day financial operations, preparing accurate financial reports, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting business decisions through data-driven analysis. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and experienced in handling complex, multi-location retail accounting.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Maintain general ledger, financial records, and internal controls across all branches
  2. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
  3. Manage accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, and cash flow monitoring
  4. Ensure timely remittance of statutory deductions and taxes (PAYE, VAT, WHT, etc.)
  5. Collaborate with auditors and regulatory bodies during audits or reviews
  6. Monitor branch-level revenue and expense reports
  7. Identify cost-saving opportunities and financial risks
  8. Implement accounting best practices and reporting procedures across all units
  9. Supervise junior accounting staff or finance officers if applicable.

Education & Qualifications

  1. B.Sc. or HND in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  2. Minimum Second Class Upper (2:1) or equivalent is a strong advantage
  3. ICAN/ACCA certification (or ongoing) is an added advantage.

Experience:

  1. Minimum of 3 years post-NYSC experience in a core accounting role
  2. Retail industry experience is highly preferred (pharmacy, supermarket, food service, etc.)
  3. Experience handling multi-branch operations will be an added advantage.

Required Skills & Competencies:

  1. Excellent knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations
  2. Strong analytical and numerical skills
  3. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Excel)
  4. Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  5. Ability to manage multiple accounts/branches efficiently
  6. Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.

  1. Must be based in Abuja
  2. Must be available for full-time, on-site work
  3. Must demonstrate honesty, accountability, and commitment to high performance.
