Job Position: Accountant

Job Location: Ikoyi, Lagos

Job Responsibilities

  1. Direct the organisation’s financial and budgeting activities to fund operations, maximize investments, and increase operational efficiency.
  2. Coordinate the development and implementation of budgetary control systems, recordkeeping systems, or other administrative control processes across the organisation.
  3. Analyse and evaluate the operations of the organisation to determine areas of potential cost reduction/optimization or policy change.
  4. Advise the organisation on all financial issues to ensure decisions regarding finances are made in the best interest of the organisation.
  5. Managing and overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department
  6. Prepare or present comprehensive reports concerning business activities, expenses, budgets, government statutes or rulings, or other items affecting business operations and other organisational services.
  7. Implement corrective action plans to solve company-wide financial problems.
  8. Drafting Company Accounting manual, process and policy document for the Department
  9. Monitoring and analyzing accounting data and producing periodic financial reports or statements
  10. Establishing and enforcing proper accounting methods, policies and principles
  11. Develop processes and policies to reduce operation Cost within the company
  12. Responsible for and ensure that credit risk is balanced with business objectives, targets are met and that only valid claims with proper management authorization are paid
  13. Maintains company confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential
  14. Survey operations to ascertain accounting needs while, recommending, developing and maintaining solutions to business and financial problems
  15. Engage with auditors to answer questions in regard to control processes and account reconciliations
  16. Secures financial information by completing data base backups
  17. Maintains financial security by following internal controls
  18. Prepares payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements
  19. Prepares periodic balance sheet analysis
  20. Preparation of monthly invoices and salary payments for clients and internal Staff.
  21. Preparation of Monthly pension and PAYE and remitted immediately after receipt of clients payment
  22. Prepare weekly and monthly reports on Company accounts transactions
  23. Ensures compliance with government regulations, establishing and implementing policies on matters such as payroll advancements to employees
  24. Keeping track of all payments and expenditures, including payroll, purchase orders, invoices, statements, etc.
  25. Follow up with all clients’ invoice payments monthly,
  26. Remittance of monthly VAT,
  27. Preparation of salary breakdown in line with Nigerian Tax law,
  28. Proactively handle all tax issues
  29. Accrual and posting of all daily transactions into SAP accounting solution
  30. Monthly reconciliation of clients, vendor and Bank,
  31. Attend/ assist the Company’s auditors with necessary information
  32. Develop, maintain and analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs,
  33. Negotiate with vendors for services and repairs at a reasonable cost, maintain and create a template that allows for departmental head approvals
  34. Maintains a professional and technical knowledge base by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; participating in professional societies
  35. Accomplishing results by performing the duty
  36. Ensure that cost saving processes are put in place and continue to be monitored
  37. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed,

  5. Ensure that all service requirements are met as agreed in the SLA

  8. Knowledge of the organisation’s structure, policies and procedures.
  9. Knowledge of risk management.
  10. Knowledge of financial management
  11. Knowledge of tax operations/regulations.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • ACA is mandatory
  • 3-5+ years of accounting experience.
  • Working knowledge of tax laws and GAAP.
  • Strong financial analysis skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organizational and stress management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel.
  • Ability to train and manage staff.
  • Ability to work with little to no supervision.
