Job Position: Accounting Associate

Job Location: Lagos

Job Description

  1. As the Accounting Associate, you are responsible for all tactical and operational duties of the accounting function.
  2. This includes the preparation of accounting schedules, management reporting, statutory reporting, and internal and external stakeholder management.

Job Responsibilities
Accounting Records and Financial Statements:

  1. Maintain proper accounting records.
  2. Prepare journal entries and post transactions.
  3. Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and reconciliation reports in compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards and relevant accounting concepts and principles.

Support and Compliance:

  1. Support the Head of Accounting in budget preparation, annual reports, audits, etc.
  2. Review and confirm the correct tax computation, remittance, and engagement of stakeholders for tax receipts.
  3. Ensure timely preparation and transmission of regulatory filings and other external reports.

Expense Management and Reporting:

  1. Manage and report on petty cash and operational expenses within limits set by the Head of Accounting and Chief Operation Officer.
  2. Month-end closing activities like generating reports, and cut off activities on specific workdays (monthly, quarterly, annually).
  3. Preparation of standard management reports and any reports as may be required by management from time to time.
  4. Assist in the development and reporting of key performance metrics to help drive business productivity.

Reconciliation and Data Accuracy:

  1. Daily reconciliation for all payment processors for all products using source data.
  2. Ensure accuracy of all automated sources of data via frequent checks and reconciliations.

SOP Development and Stakeholder Engagement:

  1. Application of the principles of the accounting manuals and updates to the manuals are subject to the approval of the Head of Accounting.
  2. Development and update of Accounting SOPs.
  3. Engagement of internal stakeholders as required to fulfill responsibilities.

Job Requirements

  • B.Sc in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field.
  • 2 – 4 years working as an Accountant.
  • Professional certification or Part Qualification – (Professional level of ACA, ACCA is an added advantage).
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite applications (Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Good knowledge of Accounting Software (Sage, Quickbooks, Microsoft Dynamics, etc).
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Intermediate report writing skills.
  • Basic presentation skills.
