Job Position: Accounts Payable Officer

Job Location: Lagos, Nigeria

Job Description

  • The Accounts Payable Officer proactively manage the Accounts Payable process, including the timely and accurate processing and payment of all approved vendor invoices in compliance with company policies and procedures.

Job Responsibilities

  1. To ensure all payments are processed accurately and in a timely manner, complying with all standard operation procedures.
  2. Applying the correct accounting principles and ensuring that all entries and procedures are in compliance with IFRS.
  3. Liaise with stakeholders, internally and externally, in relation to all payables and ensure clear communication when required.
  4. Ensure tax compliance in transaction processing on daily transactions.
  5. Ensure accurate period-end ledger closing through call-up and reconciliation of general ledger balances.
  6. Maintain and manage monthly prepayment and accrual schedules.
  7. Reconcile bank accounts daily and provide accurate balances for decision-making.
  8. Support in providing information to state and federal government for tax purposes.
  9. Provide support to the Financial Reporting team in the preparation of the monthly and yearly financial statements in line with the International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS).
  10. Prompt payment of statutory remittances to avoid liabilities.
  11. Perform other related tasks as may be required.

Job Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related fields.
  2.  A minimum of 1 year of relevant professional experience preferably in payable function.
  3. Experience in analyzing and reconciling general ledgers
  4. Excellent writing skills, and ability to explain technical accounting issues to colleagues.
  5. Demonstrate competencies for accuracy, attention to detail, integrity, and update knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards
