Job Description

  1. Develop a sub-sector coverage and product strategy to effect, establish and grow a leading research franchise, ensuring alignment to broad, sector investor themes.
  2. Engage in in-depth conversations with market participants (with a portfolio of medium to large-sized clients) to determine market sentiment and generate market insights.
  3. Initiate and supervise research to ensure coverage of relevant commercial stocks in the allocated sector.
  4. Initiate coverage of relevant commercial stocks in the allocated/targeted sectors and companies following the markets to maintain up-to-date market data, knowledge of current events, and to identify key developments.
  5. Manage preparation, attend and present at annual global roadshows, corporate site meetings, board presentations, investor corporate engagements and conferences connecting large corporates, investors and policy makers.
  6. Manage the distribution of research product / commercial ideas to counterparts in Corporate Investment Banking (CIB), e.g. ECM, M&A and Coverage and broader corporate finance functions to generate leads.
  7. Proactively market new research products (notes) and market investment ideas to medium to large domestic and offshore-based global investors.
  8. Provide cost-effective delivery of research products and research franchises to optimise monetisation for the sub-sector.
  9. Provide on-the-job guidance to team members to resolve any escalated issues and support the achievement of objectives as per defined quality standards.
  10. Guide and coach less experienced levels in order to upskill them on processes, standards, procedures and products. Review research notes and guide research associates.
  11. Stay abreast of thematic changes in the sector to ensure proactive responses to evolving client needs.
  12. Provide investor education on an ad-hoc and project basis, within compliance requirements and represent house views on the particular sector trends and developments in the media.

Qualifications

  1. Type of Qualification: First Degree
  2. Field of Study: Business, Commerce, Engineering, Social Sciences, Physical Sciences
  3. Master’s: Mathematical Sciences

Experience Required:
Wealth and Investment:

  1. Required 1-2 years Strong Microsoft Excel skills with seasoned/strong financial modelling and analysis skills
  2. Required 3-4 years’ Experience as a covering or lead analyst on individual equities, with the ability to develop strong client relationships
  3. Required 3-4 years of seasoned asset management and sector experience in assessing investment opportunities within a specific sector universe.
