Job Position: BSS OSS (SME) Engineer

Job Description

  1. Airtel maintains an ecosystem of business support systems, to run our business operations towards customers.
  2. We are currently in need of an experienced engineer, responsible for supporting our B/OSS stack, and its ancillary tools and utilities.
  3. The engineer in this role, will support the end-to-end subscriber lifecycle for postpaid, hybrid, prepaid customers, in the GSM, Enterprise, FTTH, Airtel Money, and other customer domains. Services managed, will include, but not limited to provisioning, CRM, billing, order orchestration, order fulfillment and maintaining the product catalog.

Job Responsibilities
System Design and Architecture:

  1. Design and architect business and operational support systems that align with the organization’s objectives and requirements.
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business processes and design systems to support those processes.

System Development and Integration:

  1. Develop and implement B/OSS solutions to automate and optimize business processes.
  2. Integrate B/OSS systems with existing IT infrastructure and third-party applications.
  3. Ensure seamless communication and data exchange between different systems.

Customization and Configuration:

  1. Customize and configure B/OSS applications to meet specific business needs.
  2. Implement changes and updates to ensure the systems are aligned with evolving business requirements.

System Testing and Quality Assurance:

  1. Conduct thorough testing of B/OSS systems to identify and resolve any issues.
  2. Ensure the reliability, performance, and security of B/OSS applications.
  3. Collaborate with quality assurance teams to implement and execute test plans.

Documentation:

  1. Create and maintain detailed documentation for B/OSS systems, including design specifications, configurations, and troubleshooting procedures.
  2. Provide training to end-users and support teams on system functionalities.

Troubleshooting and Support:

  1. Investigate and resolve technical issues related to B/OSS systems.
  2. Provide support to end-users and collaborate with technical support teams to address system-related problems.

System Maintenance and Upgrades:

  1. Perform regular maintenance tasks and updates to ensure the stability and security of B/OSS systems.
  2. Evaluate and implement system upgrades to take advantage of new features and technologies.

Operational:

  1. GSM and non-GSM bill run/dispatch.
  2. Provision scheduled and ad-hoc reports in a timely and efficient manner.
  3. Investigate reasons for service faults.
  4. Assist with change management, ensuring minimal impact on subscribers, and end users during patch implementation, upgrades and bug fixes.

Job Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  2. Previous experience in B/OSS system design, development, and implementation.
  3. Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Java, Python) and database management.
  4. Knowledge of telecommunications and IT industry standards and protocols.
  5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  6. Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  7. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  8. Familiarity with industry-specific B/OSS applications and platforms.
