Job Position: Business Credit Analyst

Job Location: Lagos

Job Responsibilities

  1. Evaluate the financial status of potential customers, monitor existing clients, perform risk assessments and make informed decisions while extending credit.
  2. Analyze and assess the financial statements and credit history of existing and potential clients.
  3. Review credit applications and perform credit checks.
  4. Structure deals and perform risk assessments.
  5. Make informed decisions backed by sound assessment.
  6. Consult and negotiate with clients regarding financial transactions, payment terms, and credit limits.
  7. Evaluate the creditworthiness of business loan applications by analyzing financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant information.
  8. Determine the appropriate loan structure based on the client’s creditworthiness and the company’s risk appetite.
  9. Assess risks associated with each loan and make recommendations to management regarding credit approvals and loan structures.
  10. Collaborate with sales and operations teams to ensure smooth loan disbursement and repayment.
  11. Develop and maintain relationships with borrowers, ensuring a high level of customer service and satisfaction.
  12. Stay up to date with industry trends, regulatory requirements, and best practices in credit analysis.
  13. Contribute to the development and improvement of credit policies and procedures.
  14. Prepare reports and presentations for management on credit risk and portfolio performance
  15. Handle multiple projects and submit applications on time.
  16. Financial forecasting.
  17. Keep abreast of financial news and trends.

Job Requirements

  1. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant data.
  2. Ability to assess credit risk and make recommendations based on analysis.
  3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with borrowers and other stakeholders.
  4. Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  6. Ability to practice due diligence.
  7. Good critical-thinking skills; ability to effectively gather data, analyze and make well informed decisions.
  8. Desire and aptitude for learning new concepts on the job.
  9. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to navigate complex technical issues.
  10. Proactiveness; going beyond the obvious, gathering complex data to get to the heart of issues.
  11. Time management – Ability to prioritize tasks, multi-task, manage deadlines and work efficiently.
  12. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
