Job Description

  1. The post holder will coordinate the search, development, and timely submission of donor proposals.
  2. S/he will also coordinate and provide fundraising support to other sub-units in other fundraising activities. S/he will support donor management and provide some compliance.

Job Responsibilities
AAN has a diverse portfolio of grants and pipeline of future funding opportunities; the position holder is expected to:

  1. Support the RMID Director in the development, review, implementation and monitoring of the resource mobilization strategy.
  2. Actively identify grant opportunities and develop grant proposals in close coordination with the RMID Director and the relevant technical unit:
    • Working with Finance team in the development of proposal budgets in line with donor financial systems and AA financial guidelines.
    • Where donor requirements allow, ensure cross cutting issues – women’s rights/gender, social mobilisation are an integral part of project design.
    • Ensure that all categories of program costs are considered at the conceptualisation and submission stage of grant preparation.
  3. Work with the RMID Director in ensuring that a healthy pipeline is in place using robust donor opportunity and relationship management tracking tools.
  4. Monitor, analyse and consolidate relevant grant information and disseminate where relevant within AAN.
  5. In collaboration with the Communications and Programmes departments, ensure that resource mobilisation products for external website and partners are developed and used for engagement.

AAN has a large portfolio of grants and contracts in implementation with sound and compliance management requirements:

  1. Work with relevant teams (Finance, Audit and Programmes) to ensure projects are implemented according to donor standards and regulations as well as one that meets AAN policies.
    • Ensure donor MoUs are complied with and donor programmatic and financial expectations are met.
  2. Liaise with the RMID and Programmes Directors to ensure that reporting schedules are developed and met. And that project reports are submitted to relevant donors in a timely manner and with quality.
  3. Ensure that the RMID annual, monthly, and quarterly reports are developed and feeds into the global AAN reporting.
  4. Lead AAN to update and monitor the Contract Management System (CMS), including being the focal person within the federation.

AAN has a large active and dynamic staff:

  1. Provide leadership and support to other team members especially Line Managees in delivering their roles.
  2. Facilitate and support relevant proposal development capacity needs for staff.
  3. Support system strengthening of AAN staff in donor relationships and institutional partnership processes.
  4. Lead the Contract Management System (CMS) capacity building process for all relevant AAN staff, including relevant new hires.

Team:

  1. Internal Relationships: Entire AAN team
  2. External Relationships: Donors, partners, CSOs and relevant government agencies, AAI, AA General Secretariat.

Job Requirements
Education / Qualifications:

  1. First Degree in Social Sciences or Arts / Humanities is essential.
  2. Master’s Degree in Social Sciences or Arts / Humanities is desirable.
  3. Membership of relevant professional Institute is desirable.

Experience:

  • At least 8 years’ post NYSC experience, 4 of which should be in a similar position in the development sector is essential.
  • Experience in donor management and proposal development is essential.
  • Experience in strategy development and management is essential.
  • Demonstrated success in directly managing the development and reporting requirements of grant funded projects and programs is essential.
  • Experience working on donor relationship is desirable.

Skills / Abilities:

  1. Experience developing successful, high profile donor proposals
  2. Ability to monitor institutional donor projects.
  3. Excellent planning and prioritization skills.
  4. Strong analytical/problem solving skills.
  5. Excellent (proven) interpersonal skills
  6. Fluency in spoken and written English language.nt.
