Job Position: Business Development Manager – Tech Sales

Job Location: Lagos

Job Description

  1. Managing relationships with all partners on behalf of the firm, fostering personal connections, and driving professional revenue generation within the portfolio.
  2. Conduct thorough market research to identify new business opportunities and industry trends.
  3. Analyse the competitive landscape to inform strategic decisions and positioning.
  4. Identify and qualify potential clients and partners through various channels (e.g., networking, cold calling, digital marketing).
  5. Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of leads and prospects.
  6. Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, partners, and industry influencers.
  7. Conduct meetings, presentations, and negotiations to secure new business deals.
  8. Develop and implement effective sales strategies to achieve revenue targets and business objectives.
  9. Collaborate with marketing and product teams to create compelling sales materials and campaigns.
  10. Prepare and present detailed proposals, quotes, and contracts tailored to client needs.
  11. Negotiate terms and conditions to close deals and secure long-term partnerships.
  12. Monitor and report on sales performance, market trends, and business development activities.
  13. Utilise CRM tools to manage client interactions and track sales progress.
  14. Organising events and managing speaking engagements to further position [AI] Analytics Intelligence Africa as a thought leader in the industry.
  15. Handling public relations on behalf of the firm and portfolio companies, maintaining positive relationships with media and stakeholders.

Job Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Computer Science, or a related field. An MBA or equivalent advanced degree is a plus.
  2. Proven minimum of 3 years experience in Business Development/ leadership roles within tech startup or Venture Capital environments.
  3. Strong understanding of Artificial Intelligence, data analytics and related technologies.
  4. Strong leadership, data analysis, and financial management skills.
  5. Deep understanding of the African tech and venture capital landscape.
  6. Relevant educational background in marketing, business, or related fields.
  7. Certifications or additional qualifications relevant to marketing or investor relations are advantageous.
  8. Proficiency in implementing data-driven strategies to maximise marketing ROI.
  9. Must have Enterprise B2B product marketing and inbound demand/lead generation experience.
  10. Prior experience with remote, distributed teams is a strong plus.
