Job Position: Business Development Manager
Location: Lagos

Job Description

The Business Development Manager will manage and implement the sales forecasting, planning and buyer-driven sales and marketing processes, establishing a high level of quality, accuracy and process consistency for the sales and marketing department/team. Craft strategies for sales teams.

Job Responsibilities
Business Development:

  1. Build long-term customer relationships and propose solution offerings that anticipate customers’ needs and exceed expectations
  2. Formulate strategic business development plans for target markets and ensure alignment with the organisation’s strategic direction
  3. Lead the negotiation process to achieve desired outcomes
  4. Drive customer adoption using strategic insight derived from detailed data analysis
  5. Evaluate the implications of strategies and business targets to seek endorsement
  6. Guide communication to stakeholders on opportunities to gather buy-ins

Partnership Management:

  1. Evaluate and drive inter-organisational initiatives, and negotiate strategic information exchange with key partners
  2. Manage inter-organisational initiatives, programs and projects
  3. Evaluate potential organisations and assess the costs and benefits of a shared partnership
  4. Recommend potential organisations with shared or complementary objectives, or which allow for mutual benefits of a shared partnership
  5. Negotiate the strategic exchange of information with key partners or stakeholders
  6. Co-create a robust inter-organisational strategy to effectively address common issues faced
  7. Evaluate the effectiveness of partnerships and identify room for enhancement

Business Proposal Writing:

  1. Identify necessary information and sources of information
  2. Analyse market potential for business opportunities
  3. Conduct a customer needs analysis to determine market demand
  4. Evaluate business opportunities to assess viable options
  5. Approve proposals to capitalise on viable business opportunities

Business Presentation Delivery:

  1. Establish objectives of presentations and identify appropriate presentation modes to meet organisational requirements
  2. Review presentation outcomes to enhance future performance

Business Negotiation:

  1. Manage and direct negotiation policies and develop negotiation limits
  2. Drive the establishment of the organisation’s negotiation policies and limits
  3. Set negotiation guidelines to be used during the negotiation process
  4. Evaluate and refine negotiation policies and limits based on negotiation outcomes

Market Research:

  1. Lead the assessment of the market and develop organisational market research policies and procedures
  2. Analyse market trends and developments to forecast emerging market needs
  3. Guide market research activities to align research objectives with organisational needs
  4. Identify competitors by evolving business objectives and emerging market needs
  5. Establish benchmarks in which customer behaviours can be assessed based on industry best practices
  6. Establish the organisation’s market research policies and procedures based on industry standards

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, mass communication or equivalent.
  2. MBA/ Relevant professional certification in marketing / Sales will be an added advantage.
  3. Minimum of 10-12 years of construction, architecting or Real Estate industry experience.
  4. Has a vast and strong network within the commercial and residential real estate space.
  5. Has at least 7 years of experience working with commercial real estate clients
  6. Experience using sales tools like LinkedIn Navigator, Close.io…etc to drive outbound activities.

Skills:

  1. Proficiency in converting Spacefinish style inbound leads. (short-term)
  2. Experience networking and nurturing long-term relationships toward conversion.
  3. A strong track record in identifying partnership deals and managing those partnerships.
  4. Proven ability to prepare RFP’s for prospective bids
  5. Proven record of bringing in revenue of a minimum of N800 million to over a billion Naira.
  6. Proven ability for technical selling and ability to prospect, commercialise and maintain accounts.
  7. Has experience building sales systems, having worked within a structured environment for one.
  8. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate to a variety of audiences, including senior management, customers, and co-workers.
  9. Strong technical background and excellent organisational skills.
  10. Self-motivated team player with exceptional people skills and character, and a desire to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and lean environment.
