Job Position: Chief Security Officer
Location: Maitama, Abuja (FCT)

Job Description

The Chief Security Officer (CSO) is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the security operations of the organisation to protect employees, visitors, assets, and property.

The role ensures compliance with security policies, safety procedures, and regulatory standards while maintaining a secure and peaceful work environment.

The ideal candidate must be disciplined, proactive, and firm, with strong leadership abilities, sound judgment, and extensive experience in corporate or industrial security operations.

Job Responsibilities
Security Operations Management:

  1. Oversee all security activities across the organisation’s facilities.
  2. Develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and protocols.
  3. Ensure effective surveillance, patrol, and monitoring of company premises.
  4. Coordinate access control, visitor management, and identification systems.
  5. Respond promptly to emergencies, incidents, and security breaches.

Personnel Leadership and Supervision:

  1. Recruit, train, supervise, and schedule security personnel.
  2. Assign duties to guards and monitor their performance daily.
  3. Conduct drills, briefings, and continuous training on security awareness.
  4. Maintain discipline, integrity, and professionalism within the security team.
  5. Prepare duty rosters and supervise guard deployment during events or peak periods.

Risk Assessment and Incident Management:

  1. Conduct regular risk assessments and identify vulnerabilities across all facilities.
  2. Investigate security incidents, accidents, and suspicious activities.
  3. Prepare incident reports and recommend corrective/preventive measures.
  4. Ensure proper documentation of security logs, access records, and reports.

Facility and Asset Protection:

  1. Safeguard assets, equipment, inventory, and company property from theft or damage.
  2. Ensure effective monitoring of entrances, exits, warehouses, and restricted zones.
  3. Supervise CCTV operations and ensure 24/7 surveillance functionality.
  4. Ensure alarm systems, fire safety equipment, and emergency exits are functional.

Compliance and Safety Enforcement:

  1. Ensure compliance with company security regulations and statutory laws.
  2. Enforce safety rules, emergency procedures, and evacuation protocols.
  3. Collaborate with facility and HSE teams on safety inspections and hazard prevention.
  4. Monitor security equipment maintenance and recommend upgrades when needed.

Coordination with External Agencies:

  1. Liaise with law enforcement agencies, emergency services, and security consultants.
  2. Support investigations into theft, fraud, or misconduct cases.
  3. Facilitate cooperation during emergencies, raids, or regulatory inspections.

Reporting and Administration:

  1. Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly security reports for management.
  2. Maintain comprehensive records of guard performance, incidents, and patrol logs.
  3. Recommend improvements in security policies, personnel, and equipment.
  4. Assist in budgeting and cost control for security operations.

Experience / Qualifications

  1. Minimum of OND / HND / BSc Degree in Criminology, Security Studies, Law, or related fields
  2. 3 – 5 years of experience in security management, law enforcement, or military service
  3. Experience supervising security operations in hospitality, retail, oil & gas, or corporate environments is an advantage
  4. Training or certification in security management, investigation, or emergency response is desirable
  5. Knowledge of security laws, safety regulations, and surveillance systems.
