Job Position: Chief Technical Officer (2 Openings)
Locations: Port Harcourt, Rivers, and Lagos

Job Responsibilities
Strategic and Financial Oversight:

  1. Develop and manage the operating expenditure (OPEX) budget with a focus on gas turbine operations, fuel efficiency, and lifecycle costs.
  2. Implement cost control measures and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements in turbine performance and plant operations.

Gas Turbine Operations and Optimisation:

  1. Oversee the operation and performance of gas turbines, including combustion systems, compressors, and turbines.
  2. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as heat rate, turbine inlet temperature, exhaust gas temperature, and fuel consumption.
  3. Optimise start-up, load-following, and shutdown procedures to enhance reliability and reduce wear.

Maintenance and Reliability Engineering:

  1. Supervise preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of gas turbines and associated systems (e.g., lubrication, cooling, fuel supply).
  2. Lead root cause analysis of turbine trips, failures, or performance degradation.
  3. Ensure OEM guidelines and best practices are followed for major overhauls and inspections (e.g., hot gas path inspections, borescope inspections).

Safety and Regulatory Compliance

  1. Develop and enforce safety protocols for high-temperature, high-pressure turbine systems.
  2. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations (e.g., NOx, CO emissions) and grid code requirements.
  3. Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies for turbine-related hazards.

Monitoring and Control Systems 

  1. Utilise Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and SCADA to monitor turbine performance and plant operations.
  2. Analyse real-time and historical data to detect anomalies and optimise turbine efficiency.
  3. Oversee integration of digital tools (e.g., AI-based diagnostics, digital twins) for performance monitoring.

Team Leadership and Development:

  1. Lead and mentor engineers, technicians, and contractors involved in turbine operations and maintenance.
  2. Identify training needs related to gas turbine technologies and coordinate technical development programs.
  3. Foster a culture of technical excellence, safety, and continuous improvement.

Reporting and Communication:

  1. Prepare and present technical reports on turbine performance, maintenance activities, and operational status.

Requirements

  1. Minimum of a first Degree in Engineering with any speciality in power systems
  2. Good knowledge of GE & Siemens Gas Turbines is a plus
  3. Relevant professional certifications are required
  4. Minimum of 15 years cognate power plant experience with a minimum of 10 years in a leadership position of a similar company

Salary
N1,000,000 – N2,000,000 per month.
