Mavin Records is Africa’s leading entertainment company. Mavin Records is a Nigerian music corporation record label founded by record producer and recording artist Don Jazzy on 8 May 2012. The label’s inception came to fruition following the closure of Mo’ Hits Records, a record label owned by the aforementioned producer and D’banj.

Job Position: Cinematographer

Job Description

  1. Mavin is currently looking for a cinematographer and editor who will be responsible for managing camera crews and lighting crews and overseeing the selection and manipulation of technical equipment to create striking images on the screen.
  2. Creativity, spotlighting trends, and innovation are critical for this role.
  3. Our ideal candidate should be able to bring sight and sound together in order to tell a cohesive story.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Analyzing research regarding available locations, props, sun position, and weather conditions at the prospective film sites.
  2. Selecting and sourcing required equipment, tools, and crew members
  3. Visiting locations and taking a series of test shots before deciding on angles, fliers, framing, equipment, lighting, and techniques that will be used to create the desired atmosphere for the film.
  4. Attending cast rehearsals and providing advice where appropriate
  5. Trim footage segments and put together the sequence of the film
  6. Input music, dialogues, graphics and effects
  7. Create rough and final cuts
  8. Ensure logical sequencing and smooth running
  9. Consult with stakeholders from production to the post-production process
  10. Continuously discover and implement new editing technologies and the industry’s best practices to maximize efficiency.
  11. Keeping up-to-date with the advances in the film industry and attending workshops and training sessions wherever possible
  12. Maintaining quality and quantity of content formats shot and delivered
  13. Create and maintain production of new original content outside of artist promotional content
  14. Expanding networks and maintaining relationships with industry professionals

Job Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Film, Production or similar discipline
  2. Video editing is an added advantage
  3. Extensive experience working in the film/entertainment industry
  4. Stamina and Physical strength
  5. The ability to work for long hours and spend time away from home
  6. A passion for film, a good eye for detail, and excellent hand-eye coordination
  7. Lighting and Editing skills are required for this position
  8. Global mindset and approach to work and ideation/execution.
