Nuru Nigeria is a local NGO with affiliates in the US, Kenya, Ethiopia and Burkina Faso. Our mission is to build resilience corridors of farmer-owned and farmer-led agribusinesses and profitable rural livelihoods in 12 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of northeast Nigeria proximate to conflict-vulnerable areas by 2030. Nuru Nigeria prioritises the smallholder farmers it serves and works to cultivate lasting meaningful choices through a community led, community driven and community sustained livelihood programs across the agriculture value chain.

Job Position: Communication and Partnership Officer

Job Description

  1. The Communications & Partnership Officer will play a pivotal role in supporting the implementation of Nuru Nigeria’s communication strategies.
  2. This position involves working closely with the Leadership and Partnership Director to create and disseminate compelling content across various channels.

Reporting and Supervision:

  • The Communication & Partnership Officer who will be working alongside the Communication and Partnership Assistant will report to the Leadership and Partnership Director.

Job Responsibilities
Content creation:

  1. Develop engaging and impactful content for various communication channels, including social media, newsletters, websites, and press releases.
  2. Conduct interviews, write success stories, and capture multimedia content from the field.

Social Media Management:

  1. Manage and update Nuru Nigeria’s social media platforms.
  2. Monitor social media trends and engage with the online community.

Media Relations:

  1. Facilitate and support in developing relationships with media outlets and key stakeholders.
  2. Draft press releases, media kits, and handle media inquiries.
  3. Coordinate internal and external communications, including emails, announcements, and notifications

Event Support:

  1. Organising and coordinating events, including workshops, conferences, and community outreach programs.
  2. Coordinate and ensure that key moments are captured during events.

Collaboration:

  1. Work closely with program teams to gather information and updates.
  2. Collaborate with graphic designers, photographers, and other team members to enhance content.
  3. Provide administrative support to the communication team
  4. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in communication.

Job Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field with a minimum of 3 years working experience in a related field.
  2. Proven experience in content creation, preferably in a non-profit or development context.
  3. Excellent writing and storytelling skills.
  4. Proficient in social media management.
  5. Basic knowledge of graphic design tools is a plus.
  6. Strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
  7. Knowledge of local language and ability to communicate clearly with the local language is an added advantage.
  8. Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  9. Passion for community development and eradicating poverty.
